Cool Useful Stuff

Some of my favorite websites are the ones that provide cool useful gadgety things. Here are some I've come across - if you know of others that fit in here, I'd love to hear about them.

Never Forget

Have dates you need to remember? Sign up for NeverForget, let it know which dates you want to be reminded of, and how far in advance, and then get an email reminder on the appointed day.

The Homefair Site

Has a bunch of services related to finances. One lets you know mortgage-related info. I have the most fun with the relocation service - you punch in where you live now, and it tells you what salary you'd need to make to maintain the same standard of living in a new place of your choice.

PhoneSpell

Want to come up with a catchy word to help others remember your phone number? Punch in your # here and it gives you words it spells out.

Dictionaries and Translators

Has language translation dictionaries for more than 80 languages.

The CDT Privacy Demonstration Project

For the conspiracy-minded (or just plain protective of their privacy), this page was set up by the Center for Democracy and Technology, a private advocacy group - it tells you what data it finds out about you when you click in.

Mapquest

Has maps for every purpose, from huge area maps down to street maps. You can also get a Trip Map, tailor-made for your travels.

NetMind

Stop checking your favorite sites just to find out if anything new's been added. Just register the web pages you want to follow here, and NetMind will let you know when they've been updated.

My Cards and Stuff Page

There are so many sites that let you send virtual cards and flowers, I've given them their own page. Check it out.

Reject-O-Matic

My dilemma: should I put this here or under "Cards and Stuff"? I compromised, and put it near the Cards and Stuff link. From the Reject-O-matic page:
"Are you bitter because you just received a nasty rejection letter but your roommate has a juicy 60k offer in Manhattan? Brood No More! The Student.Net Reject O Matic is here to help you work through your angst."

Random Elizabethan Curse Generator

In case the Reject-O-Matic was a little too lowbrow for your tastes...

GetSmart

You type in which credit card features (i.e., fees, interest rates, rewards, etc.) are most important to you, and it gives you information on the best credit cards for your needs. Also has mortgage info.

Let me know what you think of my gadgets page, or tell me about sites I've missed:
