Hi Folks
I'll definately be going along to the show in Edinburgh. It would be
great to meet up with some of you guys as well.
There are LOADS of B&B's in Edinburgh, so IF the hotels are all full you
could try some of those. If anyone would like some phone numbers of
accomodation, drop me a message and I'll see what I can do.
See ya

Enjoy!! I'll say! These seemed of a far better quality than you give
yourself (and/or your scanner!) credit for, Kenny! (Someone-- quick--
get the extra oxygen tanks ready for Sandra-- she'll be
hyper-HYPERventilating for sure! :) Trust me on this, gang!

But along with an ENORMOUS "Thank you, Kenny" for your eagle-eyed
adeptness at getting these to us so fast (it could be hardly any
faster!), may I ask-- why in heck was Scott Neal a judge at such a
contest? (And how come we don't get anything remotely like this in the
States-- okay, the second one was rhetorical; but as to the first, the
obvious question is-- was BT mentioned?)
Can you tell us as much as you remember of what took place during that
interview (your first bunch of .jpg's), or in his onstage appearance?

Interesting about our Mr. Neal. He seems to carefully cultivate his
straight image (in interviews and such), and yet he is comfortable appearing
at gay events. That's admirable. Was it Glenn who was to be on last year's
panel? If I remember correctly, his mother took ill. I think perhaps he's
a bit less likely to do "gay" things. Perhaps our UK friends can shed light
on that.

Here's the "Chicago Tribune" review of BT, now playing at the Famous
Door Theatre.
'BEAUTIFUL THING' LIVES UP TO ITS NAME IN FAMOUS DOOR'S RENDITION
By Chris Jones, Special to the Tribune
published Wednesday, May 27, 1998 Section: TEMPO Page 2
In an exceptional production crafted with palpable pride by its
director, Gary Griffin, the Famous Door Theatre Company captures with
great honest the romanticized social reality of Jonathan Harvey's
"Beautiful Thing." And although the plot of this wonderful
coming-of-age British drama is driven in part by gay concerns, this
play has universal appeal. If this singular show attracts to the
Theatre Building the diverse audience it deserves, cash-strapped
Famous Door will find it has a beautiful situation on its hands.
There's a long dramatic tradition of focusing on the experiences of
young teenagers who are exploring their possible homosexuality. Yet
most of these works -- such as Robert Anderson's "Tea and Sympathy" or
Julian Mitchell's "Another Country" -- are set in upper-middle class
milieux and ooze with aesthetic pretension. By contrast, Harvey's far
more down-to-earth "Beautiful Thing" takes place in a working-class
housing project in southeast London (the action happens outside the
doors of several neighboring apartments).
The main focus here is on two teenagers -- a Jamie (Matt Stinton)
discovers that he is in love with Ste (Michael Moran), the handsome
school chum who lives next door. As one might expect, the fellows
wrestle with their confusing feelings; worries about the inevitable
teasing; and Jamie's concerns that his love is not reciprocated. But
these two boys are merely a part of an engrossing group of characters,
all of whom are visualized with depth and compassion.
There's also Jamie's (single) mother, Sandra (Kirsten Sahs), who
struggles with poverty and romance but still does her considerable
best for her son. Sandra's artistic but awkward boyfriend Tony (Kurt
Brocker) provides comic relief. The group is completed by the boys'
neighbor, Leah (Susan Bennett), a troubled but appealing teenager who
escapes her rough world by retreating into fantasy.
All of the actors in Griffin's exquisitely cast production are
excellent. As the two love-sick leads, the youthful Moran and Stinton
are both entirely convincing in difficult roles. But then so are all
of the supporting players in a production with no weak links.

Yeah, Jeffo, like the HOURS you spent trying to figure out where on the web

Anyway, At the TOP of the main page ( http://www.sundancechannel.com )

kissing in the woods. Click on that, and you are taken to the page of
June's features, just select Premieres.
And shortly, I'll should have some very nice photos to share of Scott at

OK,
I've been urged to get these pix up ASAP, so they're there now. The people
at Mr. Gay UK were very nice to share some pictures with us that are not
yet up on their website, and ALL feature Mr. Scott Neal. Too bad he didn't
win the contest, even tho he wasn't in it. I'd have written him in! (BTW,
who IS that lucky girl in the hottub with Scott? Is that YOU, Sandra??)
I also recently obtained some scans from The Bill, so those went up too.
They are on Scott's new pix page.
AND......
I hope this is not anti-climatic. For some months now, I've been hinting

Yay yay for Mr. Gay UK, Scott Neal! Ehh?! What do you mean, that
*isn't* what you meant by your felicitous juxtaposition of Scott's name

Rich,
Thanks for the review. I've been looking out for them from two Chicago
dailies that have online presence but without success. Glad you found it.

Hey all,
How are things going for everyone? Fine here, except I won't be making my trip
to the Windy City to see the most beautiful screenplay ever written play out
before my very own eyes live. 8.-(
(that was me crying)
Anyway, have noticed so much commotion about the Scott pics, thought I would
ask if anyone has any Glen Berry pix they could share? I noticed he is the way
underdog in the pix catergory on the website. This is disheartening because I
relate to him best from the movie and think he is pretty darn cute also! :-)
So, if there are any pics of him floating around in anyone's hands, please
pass them along, email me Donald6031@aol.com or put them on a webpage and tell
me where it is--I WILL go there! LOL
Thanks everyone
Donald

Well, believe me, I would love to get my hands on more Glen pix too. Not so
easy, however. Altho Glen is appearing on London Bridge, the show is only
seen in parts of England, from what I understand. So far, I've not been
able to obtain any episodes. If some kind soul can tape some, I'll be happy
to do some scans. Ian? Kenny?
Glen doesn't seem to be around as much as Scott, who seems to have more
going on with his career. Scott also seems to do more appearances... thus,
more pictures. During the original promotion, Glen did quite a bit of
publicity, and quite a few pics of him appear on Davie's Official site.
Also, a little bird tells me that Scott will soon end his contract with The
Bill and will not renew. Apparently, he's got another big screen project,
possibly in the States.
And, I did just recently add two pics of Glen to my site, thanks to Ian.
Now for those fans of some of the other cast members.... any one know what
Tameka or Linda are doing? Ben Daniels has two movies coming out this
summer; Madeline, and Passion in the Desert. Passion opens in New York on
June 12th.

You can find links to complete reviews from the Chicago Tribune (already

Follow the link to Beautiful Thing, then look for the Reviews.

London Bridge is shown on Carlton Television (the Independent TV company on
weekdays for London.) I can try and tape a few episodes for you (although
Glen doesn't seem to appear too often) and send them over. It will be
recorded with the PAL VHS video system - is this OK?
A quick question: Are there any BT bikers out there? I have just bought my
first bike and am loving every minute of it!
Regards
Neil.

Sorry, no can do! The show is only shown on Carlton - which serves the
London area. As I'm up here in sunny Scotland (LOL) it doesn't reach

Subject: btlist: Totally Cool Queer Site Award
Hi Listers,
I'd like to thank all those who voted for my site (BT-Stories Fan Fiction)
in the Totally Cool Queer Site Awards during May. I just checked the site
and BT-Stories has been listed as an "Honoured" site for June (you can't
miss it - it's at the top of the list!!!)
I presume I'll get some kind of 'official' notification from them some day
soon, so I can add there award to the BT-Stories Awards Gallery.
I'd like everyone to revisit the TCQSA site AGAIN,
http://www.RainbowZone.com/Awards/Info/entertainment.html this time to vote
for a new nomination: Andre's BT web site "The Dutch Beautiful Thing
Fanclub". Votes will be accepted until the end of August. I just sent mine
in. :)
While on the subject of awards, BT-Stories also won a "Pride Award" today!!!!
This brings our total awards to six.
Happy, happy, joy, joy....!!!!!!!!!!
And, and, and, (I'm not finished yet!!) BT-Stories has just received a
listing at Rainbow Query (a gay search engine)
http://www.glweb.com/RainbowQuery/
Take care,
Andy.

I have the feeling that all of you would be delighted to see me losing my
head and start screaming and yelling and making extravagant noises, but
for this time, I think I can control myself. I'm beyond these silly
things now. I'm very happy for that girl and besides, the fact that she's
wearing a mostly blue swimming suit finds favour in my eyes.
Have you noticed Scott hasn't changed a little bit in that picture??? He
looks exactly as he looked in BT!!!!!! Maybe I see a rascal look in his
eyes, but he looks just the same... So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see... Where's my bazooka??? Nah, too much damage and the police

that sounds more appealing... I'll think it over for a while... Prepare
my alibi...

I loved the doll concept too. I'm actually planning on ordering Billy
sometime this week (can't decide on blond or brunette, or whether to get
San Francisco Billy or Vacation Billy - ah, decisions, decisions.)
But, then, Billy is also supposed to be "anatomically correct." Dare I
ask if this would apply also to Jamie and Ste dolls. ;)

Well, Gary, I would bet that Scott wears jockey's. Why? Check out his tan
