Hi everybody,

Thank you Leonard, really, (I'm blushing).
Does this mean you also want a photocopy of Glen&Scott's picture included in
your envelope? OK, no problem. ;)

Oh, and I forgot to tell you before, the picture is in black and white and
rather small, besides it being a photocopy. But don't worry, you'll se them
just fine.

Take care.

Hello Everyone!

I have been talking to Davie. I have recently made 99 sounds to
Beautiful Thing, and more are to come. Pretty sure they will be
available on the site. Also some neat things with sounds coming soon.
There is a plan to make a place, where you can click on a sentence, and
hear that sound. In order to make this work, Please EMAIL and
suggestions as to what you want to hear. Put the request in Quotes, and
make it exactly how you wanna hear it, from the first word to the last.
This will be fun! You can email them to me direct. Make the subject
"Sounds Request"!! Thanks!

I RENTED BT LAST WEEK AND HAVE NOT RETURNED IT YET!!!!!! When I was
younger (Im 30 now!!), I feel in love with a class mate of mine at first
sight. I was semi-comfortable with my sexuality but my friend was not. We
went thru alot of tough times but eventally made it thru. When I watched BT,
it was so personally touching to me and so many of the events touched areas
of my heart that have not been stired in a long time. I do not consider
myself to over-emotional but his film hit a soft spot and there were many
times when tears were in my eyes. GREAT MOVIE GUYS.....

A couple of notes:
1. Has anyone checked out the price to purchase this film.... I have .. its
around 80.00. That suxs!!!! Especially when you can purchase Jerry Maguire
for 14.88 at Walmart!!! LOL

2. I also feel better knowing that my crush on Scott is not illegal. (The
page says he's 18) Ok, so he was 17 when he was doing the movie... lets not
get technical!!!

3. If anyone has any info on the stars of this movie or pix... plz send them
to me!!

Look at the promotion for the release of "Sum of Us," which I might add was
displaced along with "Parting Glances" as my favorite gay movies after I
saw "BT." A huge ad in the Gay Times and also some in American
publications. Maybe it will still happen. Maybe when it becomes cheaper
to buy, then Sony will push it more?

There have been trailers of BT added by Blockbuster to gay movie rentals
such as "Celluloid Closet." That might help.

As for promotion, we just have to do it by word of mouth. I know I've
spread the word and then some. To the point of being annoying. But then,
people I know are used to me being that way. :-)

Man, there are so many crucial lines in BT. Emotional? I have to agree
with both HeadDr and Todd. As for the most telling lines, it would have to
be:

Ste: "D'you fancy that Sally?"
Jamie: "Not really. Do you?"
Ste: "Haven't given it much thought, really."

Crucial. This is when Jamie says, basically, he isn't interested in girls.
Ste doesn't know for sure he is interested in girls.

And then when Ste and Leah are talking about going to the Gloucester and
she says she doesn't know any gay blokes. When Ste says "Yes, you do." I
just grin from ear to ear.

I actually got to show BT to a large group of people tonight. Part of the
crowd was people who saw the big-screen version. They said seeing it a
second time was a big help. The other half was newcomers to BT. I acted as
a sort of United Nations interpreter, Lots of "What did they say? Oh,
that's funny!" or "Ahhhh." Frightening that I know the screenplay so well.
Two women friends of mine just loved the lesbian references. See, it's a
movie for all!

What I find really fascinating about that scene is that for once it is Ste

It's not that there are valid arguments to dispel what 'religious' people
say about homosexuality, it's just that unless it comes from the
minister/pastor/priest it doesn't mean a thing. This could go on, but if
your interested in the topic, e-mail me personally so we don't clutter the

Well, I'll throw my two cents in on this one but only once. It is a well
known fact that with all religions, one of their primary directives is to
spread their religion to other people. This was done through out history
both using violence and non-violent methods. With this in mind, it is only
logical for them to think homosexuality is wrong because it is impossible
for a couple of the same sex to produce offspring and further carry on their
religion. As for what the bible states on homosexuality, the bible has been
translated and spread by word of mouth since the beginning. It is only human
nature for one person to enhanse their own version. (example, have you ever
told gossip to anyone and the next time that you heard it, it changed a
little -- Imagine that on the large scale) So my view is that YOU SHOULD NOT
BELIEVE EVERYTHING THAT YOU READ!!! I do not mean to put folks in a panic
over my religious views, so plz do not tell me that Im going to hell on the
express lane!!!! It as just my opinion!! :)

Leonard,

I almost sent a similar message the other day! I have never seen such a close
fit between the music and a movie. Now, the movie was surely written with that
in mind, but even that aside, the music stands up on its own as being so appropriate
for gay people living in a straight world. I feel like "Make Your Own Kind of Music"
was written specifically for me! (Now only if the rest of the world would see it that way...)

Oh, and the song "The greatest Love of All would be nice..."

Shaun,

I agree with you, but for me the sum of the movie/experience BT is when
Ste and Jamie dance together at the end. Here's why:

They have acknowledged their true feelings
(They're dancing imtimately, in public)
The scene portrays the idealism of their youth
(Dancing in public with no harsh comments, etc. from onlookers. In an ideal world, but not in this one)
The scene also portrays the fantasy that accompanies first love
(Is dancing in public with music coming from God knows where very realistic?)
The negative reaction of those less understanding is hinted at (though only lightly)
(The comment about Ste's dad's response if he saw it (most certainly violent))

I think this scene is incredibily complex in all it contains, and yet it appears all so simple,
easy, and natural. I think it says it all. Once you get through the tough outside, the inside
can be so tender and beautiful.

Subject: What spanish cover??

Hey, what is the deal about the spanish cover for BT?? Did I miss a
something or is someone holding out on me?? That's not very nice. :) <g>
By the say, my therapist thinks im obsessed too!!! She was pleased that
my crush on Ste (Scott Neal) was not putting me in the pedophile category.
But this was only after I told her that he was 18 NOW!! LOL Hey,
here's the question of the day?? How many times have you watched BT?? I
embarrassed to say but I would estimate about 15 times and GROWING!!!!!

I thought I'd better point out to everyone that that issue is sold out. I
know. I contacted them. But you can get copies of June 95, June 94, June
93...if you want them.
The people at the Editorial side were kind enough to photocopy the article
for me. Of course, it's not the same, cos the article's full of glorious
colour pics of the boys. In fact, the only solution to this is if Mr
Stevens scanned the pics in for us and handed them over to someone to post
onto the web?

Subject: rented at last

I just rented the movie last night. It was the first time I had seen it
since it left the theaters, but it was just as wonderful as I remembered it.
Some of my friends who missed it before also just got to see it for the
first time & all of their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. One
interesting comment came from a friend who has never seen this site. His
comment was why isn't the word "Gay" anywhere on the box? What are the
distributors trying to hide? He is just coming out, and if I hadn't told him
about it, he never would have known that this was such a good movie - based
on it's (lack of) publicity.

Just wanted to point out: in the screenplay, the music is drifting down
from Leah's flat. (Surprise surprise!)

Am I the only one that thinks Jamie (Glen Barry) is cuter than Ste (Scott
Neal)?
