Hello, BT-fans !

Who of you wants to get a jpg-file of the french (86K) or of the
norwegian (125K) movie-poster?

Please mail me !

(Since 16/5/97 I get 612 mails from the list, that's to much for my
small english-language-knowledge - but I try to do my very best.)

Hallo David : Please cancel my other eMail-Adress
from the list-server, because there is the same problem like
had with our german provider "t-online".

Thanks and greetings, Peter.

Davie luv,

Im not really in to having my personal life strewn all over the
net, as I am sure you are not either, so I am gonna make a statement, and
Davie, if you would like to reply, please do so, in private email.....

I FULLY support Davie in the creation of this new channel, it is the
most logical thing to do. I have been asked which channel to go to, and
there is only one #Beautiful-Thing. I am not going anywhere, and hopefully
nothing will change. The whole thing that blew up here is somewhat my
fault. My feelings were a little hurt that I come on, and the channel I had
been working so hard on was all of a sudden gone, and it felt like all the
work I had done was in vain. When I got to the part of my email that
suggested the new name, I was on my way to make it, then imagine my
surprise! It was there already. I felt hurt, rejected, and tossed aside. I
am sure this was no intention on Davies part. It is not about, and I say
this again, power in the channel, it never was. Whether I am the founder or
not, I was always quick to make sure anyone on the list was treated fairly.
This is my two cents. There is not fight, there is no war, I dont not hate
davie, and I certainly hope he does not hate me. The channel to use again
is #Beautiful-Thing. That is the only channel there is. My feelings are
right back where they need to be. I hope this clears up any confusion. I
would prefer not to discus any of this again. Thank You.

Davie, If you feel you need me as the channel founder, luv that is solely
(sp??) up to you. I stand behind you in this decision to create a channel
that is easier to remember.

Love always,
Jason

David, what you're proposing is close to where I want to go, too. What I'm
thinking about wouldn't be limited to "Beautiful Thing," though. I've been
thinking about this a lot. Over the years I've been involved with a
community of men who have already CREATED a "movement" that facilitates
"what we have going here". We call it Discovery and it exists as a
non-profit organization. Discovery has been a very powerful force in
helping me and hundreds of other gay and bisexual men find the kind of love
that Beautiful Thing is pointing toward.

Discovery, however, by its definition, cannot reach a very large number of
people. It is an all volunteer, non profit, organization -- and this is
written into its by laws. Although this supports Discovery's integrity, it
hampers it from doing the kind of organizational development necssary to
reach very many people. What Discovery has done successfully is create a
whole repetoir of skills, mostly through organizing, implementing and
facilitating three and four day retreats, that help us experience and
express our feelings more clearly.

I want to move toward creating an organization that will help gay, bisexual
and lesbian men and women all over the world. That's a goal. More
immediately, I want to use the Internet as a resource for creating this
organization. I'm already talking with several people about how to do this
-- and how to address the question of it generating money for its
operational expenses. Personally I believe it is possible. Just exactly HOW
is, obviously, yet to be worked out.

Have you eaten anything today, Davie?

You got that right! Wouldn't it be great if we could get away from this
gay/straight dichotomy? Both are INVENTIONS, right? Not that they don't
have their uses. So long as oppression exists, there will be some need to
counter that oppression politically. At the same time, when do I get beyond
all that not only in myself, but in the world around me. When do I begin to
see myself and be seen by others as a sexual being? I like sex. I like sex
and love together. What difference does it make to anybody else that I like
sex and love together with another man? It's just normal, not exceptional,
not out of the ordinary. Period. IMHO.

Okay, I'm looking at the Dec '96 issue of XY. That's the one has the review
of BT. Also reviews "Lillies" which takes place in Canada. Don't see any
other film reviews in that issue. That the characters in "Wayfarers" speak
German in Minnesota is only ONE weird thing about the film -- but they do.

Adam, I know that even Davie doesn't have ALL that information. The robot
has the email list in a database, of course, but that doesn't contain all
the other info. There are several things to consider. 1) Not everyone who
actually subscribes to the lists, posts to the list -- I think there are a
lot of lurkers. 2) Not everyone who subscribes to this list would feel
comfortable divulging that information publicly.

If other people on this list are interested in sharing information about
themselves, here is my suggestion:

Send your name, email address, and any other information about yourself
that you feel comfortable sharing (age, nationality, whatever)

TO ME: painter

With this subject heading: BT INFO

Do NOT send this info to the whole list.

I promise this information will be kept confidential and not shared with
anyone other than BT list members who have shared similar info about
themselves. When I've accumulated all this information, I'll put it into
one email which I will cc out to everyone who sent information to me. In
other words, only those who share info about themselves will receive
information about others.

What do you think?

Yes. There are many different ways this can happen and it doesn't ONLY have
to be with BT folks (Pacific Center, for example). But there already is a
SF Bay Area BT contingent and it would be neat for us to meet again.

Subject: Re: Glen and Scott and THE kiss...

hi all...
Just a thought on the "couple of whiskeys" being slammed before "going at
it"..

Well, my first reaction to this was, "Christ, that SUCKS...". I agree
with the comment that hearing of that drink of whiskey caused a bit of
disillusionment....(but only for a sec :))...and then I read the rest of
the string, and I realized something: I couldn't (won't) hold that
against them. So they had to have a few drinks before they could face
"the kiss scene", so what...in a way, it was all the more realistic to me
because it mirrored my own problems once. When I first was coming out, I
had to drink a bunch before I could find my way across the barriers that
were sunk pretty deep in my thinking.
I needed a lot of "liquid courage" because I couldn't find any other
way to allow myself to do what I so much wanted to. That was then though,
this is now. For me, kissing is much better sober, and more importantly
and more satisfying, _it's possible_! Perhaps no biggie to many of you
but I think others will recognize the importance of this change.
Also, I remembered a time when I went and slammed a pint of guinness
before I had a tattoo done...I wanted it, wanted to do it, I just wanted
to make sure that I quelled all my anxiety. And that's more or less,
probably, what Neal and Berry were doing.
They had A LOT of guts to take these parts in the first place--even in
these mid-90's the norm for young straight male actors (more or less just
starting out) would be to definitely avoid a film were they portray
someone gay, let alone someone who is gay, in love, and in bed. I know
that sucks but that's the way most of these things have and do happen.
As we all have attested, they wound up doing a very good job. They were
young straight men who wanted to give it their best in a gay role and
since they recognized their anxiety...they wanted to make sure to flatten
those bumps and give a smooth performance....
Whatever, I don't care. It doesn't change a thing for me..it's a great
film. We're all human.

I think it's a great idea! As a community, we definitely need to
spread the love around. I am a part of an organization already which
attempts to do the same thing. It's Delta Lambda Phi, a national gay
fraternity. I've been a part of it for a year and a half now, and it has
made such a positive impact in my life. I can go and hang out with my
fraternity brothers, and they accpet me as a whole being, not just
someone to have a one night stand with. In a way, it's like what was
reflected in the movie: our overall desire to be accepted just as we
are. It's the most exhilirating feeling I've ever had.

will play. As for the Quotes, they are the same, You may type BTQuoteMe to
