Daytona Beach

I grew up in Daytona Beach Shores and agree that the area is absolutely beautiful...avoid the boardwalk and don't go around spring break are my only two bits of advice...Also, Ponce Inlet, which is further down the beach is completely uncrowded and has more nature stuff and raw bars where you can get boiled or fried shrimp or oysters for 10 cents each. I forget when you're going, but remember it gets COLD in northern Florida during the winter....definitely too chilly to swim in January (I think). OK< I'm starting to miss it...even those I wouldn't relieve those pre-closeted days days for anything....Take care, good luck.....

The Florida Keys

The Florida Keys - the water is beautiful and because of the uniqueness of the drive down the Overseas Highway. Of course for you party girls, Key West is full of night life, guest houses and lesbian fun. There's a women's weekend there September 7 - 12 called Women's Fest. September is an excellent travel time to the Keys as it's not quite as hot as summer, but still pool and beach weather. Almost anywhere on Florida's Gulf Coast - again, beautiful water, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, especially the northern Gulf Coast. A little further south, in the Tampa - St. Petersburg area there's lots of gay and lesbian life including bars, bookstores, and several guest houses, B&Bs, rentals, etc. If you like to camp, come in the winter. The Ocala National forest in Central Florida is full of campgrounds and beautiful springs for swimming and canoeing. The Withlacoochee State Forest is also full outdoor opportunities, there's even a gay campground called the Sawmill. Just a few personal favorites I thought might be of interest to the group. And of course, don't forget Orlando anytime and Orlando GayDays in June!

Orlando

I've been lurking on the list for about a month now and am enjoying the posts. Without too much blatant commercialism, I'd like to announce a Web site I think would be of interest to the participants. It's about the annual Gay Days celebration in Orlando, FL and up to 25% of the proceeds of travel sold from the sites benefits gay and lesbian community centers around the country.

If you visit, I'd appreciate your feedback from a "lesbian traveler" perspective. We're really trying to make the site inclusive and address what we see as a general lack of activities with lesbians/women in mind.
