Holland

Here's some advice about Holland. Well, it is very very flat, no mountains, no fast rivers, the weather is often not that great, and as you might know we do have a lot of water. When you want to feel the adrenaline, this is not the right place. But what we do have are the really cool and romantic places at the water side. One place that many people forget is Giethoorn. It is a village build on little islands in a lake. You can visit it walking but you can rent a boat and find your way among the old farms hidden in a beautiful garden. Everything is so green under those big old trees which are hiding the canals and the big gardens. You see cats on a small bridge that leads to a farm, cows are transported from the farm to the fields with boats, it's incredible, even for me that such a place exists.

We have some more idyllic places like this, where the tourists do come because they are situated closer to Amsterdam. Complete villages where you get the idea that the time stood still for a while. People with traditional costumes, especially on sunday when they all go to church and windmills for keeping the water out of the villages or fields and don't forget the coast in the south. There you are able to see and go in one of our dams that protect us against the sea. You see what happened in 1953 when we didn't have the 7 dams that are protecting us now...

So when you want history and culture, we have it. But I guess you dykes are probably much more interested in Amsterdam and going out there. A "save" place is called COC, that is our national proud for integrating homosexuals. You can find them in every big town and they do have a little cafe where you can drink and eat something. When you really want to dance and go into the extreme of the extreme you have to go to the "IT" in Amsterdam or "DANS SALON" in eindhoven. Ofcourse there is a lot in between.

What i do miss on your list is Luxembourg and the Belgium ardennes. They do a lot of survivals there, backpacking through the wilderness and so. Here you really go to places where "nobody else" go. You go in caves and you have to go down a river to go to the next point. That is fun!!!
