Scotland

Edinburgh

Well, Scotland was wonderful. My bestfriend and I went there with absolutely nothing but our car prearranged. We landed in Edinburgh, rented the car and began a two week road trip. Driving was hairy but fun(Ilove to drive). We stayed in B&B's and just took our time. It is a wonderful country with a lot of history. So many castles, churches and ruins. There isn't a lot of nightlife, the evenings are generally spent in a pub. There is a real absence of gay culture - no bars or restaurants. The Scots are still pretty traditional. We were called a 'couple of modern girls' on a few occasions. I guess that is were London has the advantage - lots of nightlife, live theatre and an established gay community. In London I didn't feel safe whereas in Scotland throughout the entire trip I felt safe and secure. The people are so nice. My bestfriend was so impressed witht he country she is trying to move there.
