Editor's Corner by Rich
You will have to bear with me for the first couple of issues. I haven't used this type of software in years. Hopefully, it will not take too long. I hope the format for this newsletter will soon be pleasing to all our members.
We are still looking into having a weekend in Rehoboth. It looks like sometime in August or September. The cost is likely to be somewhere between $45 to $50 per night. This is after the club will be subsidizing at least 1/2 of the total cost. Look for more information in the next newsletter.
Well we had a fabulous party at Ken S's home in May. But don't we always? If you have never been to a G&M social at his townhouse in Laurel, MD, you don't know what you are missing. He always makes us feel welcome and at this time of the year you never know whether to congregate with the guys in the kitchen, living room, dining room or outside in his garden. This time about 15 of us chowed down on pizzas and snacks while chatting with old and new friends. Again, thanks Ken for hosting another great event.
In June we are taking a different route. We are going to get one of the two room suites at the Embassy Suites in Old Town Alexandria, VA. We will be providing snacks and beverages as we try out this venue. The board of directors are trying to come up with new ideas to attract both new members and our "missing in action" members to our socials. Since the Embassy Suites is so close to the Metro station, we thought we might get some people out who don't have access to a car. See elsewhere in the newsletter for directions and more information on the June social.
Which brings me to your feedback. What would you like to see G&M of Washington, DC do? The board of directors tries our best to figure out what interests you and what type of events you would like to participate in. But the only way for us to make this club successful is with your input. So email the club at G&M of Washington, DC or to me directly at Jim.
Our June social will be held at the Embassy Suites located at 1900 Diagonal Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. We will be serving snacks and beverages. In addition to the usual good conversation we will try to have some surprises in store to make the evening more fun. (Get your mind out of the gutter, not that sort of fun!) As is club policy lately members and first-time guests are free and returning guests are $5. Hope to see everyone in Old Town!!!
Since we will not know the room number until the day of the party please call 703-690-2298 (Jim Edwards' home phone number). Jim will have a message recorded with the hotel room number.
