We believe and follow these principals as set by the Boy Scouts of America. Not only can you gain valuable friendships but qualities that will help lead you to success in whichever field you may persue (and it looks really good on your resume...heehee).
Every year in November, for one week, is an official National Service Week. This years theme is Combatting Hunger and Homelessness. This one is not only a great humanitarian task but also one where you can easily help out. You can collect and donate non-perishables to a soup kitchen. Have a clothing drive. Volunteer at a local shelter. There are many things to do even on your own. You can also contact a local APO chapter and volunteer...you don't have to be a member to make a difference. For more information on this year's National Service Week or where to find a local chapter, contact the National Office via their webpage to get information on chapters near you or you can snail mail or email them. They will be more than happy to help you make a difference by volunteering.
On a lighter note...i just wanted to give you my perspective on this organization...I started pledging in my first semester at Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ (Fall '95) and I am happily a full fledged brother of the best chapter in the world...
These people were, are, and will always be considered my family. We have learned to act as one when the ship was sinking and I respect every one of my brothers...I LOVE YOU GUYS!
If you would like to chat with brothers online, there is now an APO chat room, they can really give you an idea of what APO is really like.
