Kiribati was formerly part
of the British protectorate of Gilbert and Ellice Islands, which later
separated into the eventually independent countries of Kiribati('79) and
Tuvalu('78). It consists of 33 coral islands and atolls. Medical care is
free of charge and cars drive on the left hand side.
