Illegal / legal?
Male homosexual acts and the attempt to do these is illegal with punisments of up to 14 years' imprisonment. Consensual sex between adults are rarely being punished. There are, to my knowledge, no laws against female homosexual acts, though there are strong voices advocating such changes.
In 1993 the military annulled the country's first multiparty election since a 1983 military coup.
