Legal The Palestine is not yet an independent country. It is still formally occupied by Israel with an interim status of self-government. Homosexuality is legal in Israel, as the only country in the Middle East. I have not found any information suggesting that local laws may differ on the West Bank or Gaza Strip. The Israeli government has issued a warning to Jewish gays about the "negative attitude towards gays" among Palestinians. This was the first time ever Jewish gay organizations have received any information from the Israeli government. PlanetOut I worry about the status for homosexuals in the Palestine after full independence. Considering the hostility towards gays in particular among Israels arab neighbours, and the growing use of Islamic Sharia laws, I do hope the world will put pressure on the Palestine government to ensure every citizen's human rights.
