Laws in this pedophilia struck country were changed in 1995 to allow for the death penalty for pedophile acts against minors. The gay scene in Manila and other cities is growing rapidly. There have been several gay pride festivals etc. Several organizations exist. One is The Progressive Organization of Gays in the Philippines (PRO-GAY). Recently proposed legislation that would allow same-sex marriages have met massive resistance both in the parliament and among Christian extremists.
