This law is rarely enforced, though. Lesbians cannot be prosecuted for the act of sodomy as they lack a "virile member", but may be prosecuted for other "offences". In 1998, the U.S. Federal District Court for Puerto Rico struck down a disciplinary rule that forbade Puerto Rican police officers from associating with homosexuals.
