COME ON IN TO THE MUSIC ROOM

Welcome to my favorite room in the house. Here you can find the calm of the storm. Have a seat and let me play some Beethoven for you while you partake of cheese balls and wine. When I finish, I will tell you all about my musical history and various awards. Do you have any requests?

I started playing the piano at the age of 5. It took me a few years to get good enough to play in front of a group, but it was worth the wait. I have always been more of a classical piano player rather than into jazz and caberet although in the past few years I have delved into that medium too. Below are just a few of my musical highlights up to this point. I hope to add many more in the coming months and years. I have also put a repertoire list of music I enjoy playing the most. If you are ever in the area, let me know and I will give you a personal concert! Like I said, requests are taken. Enjoy!

1978 - I took my first lesson from the little old lady down the street from church. She really did slap my hands with a ruler when I made a mistake.
1980 - I played my first piano recital at a local music store in Pensacola, FL. There were about 100 people there, but it felt more like 10,000 people.
1984 - I performed the first mvt. of the Moonlight Sonata for a local contest and was awarded first place.
1985 - Became the full time pianist at a Southern Baptist Church
1986 - 87 - Played several full recitals and won several minor piano concerto competitions all over the State of Florida.

1988 - First and only high school student to perform and solo with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra.
1989 - 1991 - Performed both in the state and regional solo competitions on both piano and instrumental (tuba), and placed no lower than second in every event. Two of the four years, I took first place in performance.
1991 - Selected to represent my school district in the elite Florida All-State Jazz Band (piano) and principal tubist in the Florida All-State Orchestra

1991 - Was awarded a full music scholarship at the University of Southern Mississippi and Univ. of Louisville in KY. I chose USM.
1991 - Was one of only three freshman to make the University Wind Ensemble in my first year. On top of that, within a year, I was principal tubist with both the elite Wind Ensemble and the University Orchestra.
1992 - 94 - I was a soloist on piano several times with the Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Winds.

I have been fortunate enough to have many more musical experiences than these mentioned above, but these were the main highlights by which everything else I have done is possible. As this web site is still in its infancy, I am positive this format will change and be updated to let you know as much about me in as little space possible. It would take me weeks to compose a site about my musical endeavors, but I would much rather focus on me as a whole. As I prepare myself to go back to school after a three year absence, I realize now that there is much more to life than sitting down and tickling some ivories and pressing some valves on a horn, although there isn't a whole lot I can think of. Please check back to this room soon as I will have it reformatted to satisfy both you and me. Thanks for stopping by!
