Stuttgart, Germany (Total Eclipse)
We got up bright and early on the 11th of August because we had to check out and meet Ariane. Tom is not a morning person.
We met Ariane at the Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, and she, like everyone else, was REALLY REALLY unpleased at the weather. It was overcast. No blue anywhere, let alone bits of sun that we could see getting covered.
See, not even ONE happy face in this picture. Most people like Ariane had just come down or up or across just for the day. Tom and I had come down early to see a little bit of Stuttgart. For these other people though... they would see no eclipse and they felt like they'd wasted their money.
It wasn't a complete waste of time, because we still had fun...
...until it started raining big time. But then at 12:32pm, it suddenly went dark. REAL dark. Like night. It was quite freaky - like your eyes were failing.
That made it all worth it. I've never experienced anything like it.
The darkness lasted for two minutes and then all of a sudden, it got light again (quickly).
All the same, I'm not going to be truly happy until I see a total eclipse with Corona and everything. We were so near, but so far.
