RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR LESBIANS, GAYS OR BISEXUALS, THEIR FAMILIES AND
FRIENDS, IN FREDERICTON. THIS PAMPHLET IS ONE OF A SERIES.
There is an acute shortage of material that deals frankly and objectively with
homosexuality and the reality of the lives of lesbians, gays and bisexuals.
Conversely, sensational, scurrilous and highly impartial material is produced
in an expanding flood by the popular media and a variety of religious and
political groups determined to make money and expand their influence by
demonizing and scapegoating gays, lesbians and bisexuals. What follows is a
selective reading list composed of books you are most likely to find in local
book-shops and libraries. Also included are local organizations who may be
able to help track the volumes down, and mailing addresses of bookshops
elsewhere in Canada that offer mail-order services. Similar bookshops exist
in the USA, but if you send for material from the USA it is possible that it will
be intercepted at the border. Gay and lesbian material, by no means all
erotic, is regularly intercepted by Canada Customs.
