Computers
Besides the fact that I make my living working with computers, I've got the distinct feeling that I relate better to computers than I do with people. I dream of having a house with a central computer system that responds to voice commands. I can imagine walking into the house, saying "Lights, please" and having this really masculine sounding computer say "Welcome home, Bob. You have 3 voice messages, 2 faxes and 23 email messages waiting. Would you like to hear them now?". Of course, that may not be too far away.
Most of my computer expertise is self-taught. The only actual classes I've been to are a few software classes at CompUSA. One exception - I spent about 12 weeks in San Jose a couple of years ago getting certified to install, maintain and program the voicemail system that my company uses. Despite all of that, I am a member of the Microsoft Developer Network, Microsoft Sitebuilder Network and the HTML Writers Guild. I am also Manager of Information Systems at the company I work for (the one that actually pays me).
Here is a partial list of the software that I use on a regular basis. If you notice that there is a lot of Microsoft there, I warned you earlier that I have been assimilated!
