I am a 53 yr old TV who lives in S.Wales UK and I am still a bit nervous about going out dressed. I first started, like so many others, when I was about 8 or 9 but I have had long periods of total denial. Parents, getting married to my lovely wife (who did not know at that time), and bringing up my only daughter. My daughter has now flown the nest so I have a bit more freedom to do as I like. I told my wife about 18 mths ago about my other self and at first she was dead against it. She has now come to accept it a bit more and although she does not want to see me dressed she says its ok as long as I don't push her. She even accepts that I need to get out dressed once in a while but not with her at the moment. This was usually once a month to the local support group, but this has now closed down so I don't know where I can go now.
My first time out dressed was in Oct 97 when I went to visit HelenW in Manchester. She gave me the tour of the Village on both Fri & Sat nights with Paula, Molly, Kym and Adele and it was wonderful to be able to walk about dressed with no hassle at all. We had a marvellous w/end and I booked for the next one in Dec, which was going to be the Face to Face, which Helen was organising.
On my next visit in Dec I arrived at Jacquie's early, she was not expecting me until after 4 pm but I got there about 2.30 pm after wandering around Manchester for about 2 hrs. Molly arrived at 6 then Eleanor and we got ready for the first night out. We went down and met the others in Paddy's then it was the usual tour of the Village watering holes before finishing in Naps. Got to bed about 3 am that night. Next day the others went visiting but I had a nap to try and catch up some sleep after my long day the day before. SueH and Natalie arrived about 3.30 pm before the others had returned. I answered the door not knowing whom to expect but knew then straight away. The other arrived back and after a bit of a natter we got ready for the nights festivities, not easy with 6 of us in Jacquie's small flat. We met up with the others in Paddy's again and then it was round to Metz where the meal was booked. It was superb, then it was round to Dotz and Naps again till about 2 am. We had to wait about 20 mins for a taxi on a street corner and a Tunisian who seemed to think he could get what he wanted for a few chips chatted us up. We finally got rid of him and our taxi arrived to take us home, got to bed about 3.30 am that night. I wanted to get an early start on Sun so I left at about 11.30 am and had a very clear trip home, did it in 3 hrs.
