Why are old people such a pain in the ass sometimes ?????
No, that's right ! I just love my grand-parents and all the old people
of the Univers (except the politicians) but... During the
Christmas Holydays, I had to spend fifteen days with my
grand-parents and, man, they almost got me mad !!!
I mean, I know growing old is not great sometimes but... Do they
really have to talk about skin deseases during the meals ?
Can't they talk about something else than death, dead
friends, illness, pain in the back or other depressing
subjects ? I'm also afraid of dying, but I keep my fears for me
!
And can't they
realize that when a whole family lives in a house for two
weeks, they can't act and be just like home (that means for
example that they can't monopolise the TV set, scream in the
house at 6 am...), and consider all younger human beings
within reach like someone who can more easily go and get
their shoes, paper, glasses ??? (NO, it's NOT easier for me to
go to the bookshop when it's -5*C outside and the pavement
is icy !) Can't they understand that we sometimes need
intimacy, and that if we're quiet by the fireplace it doesn't
mean that we're depressed, or ill, or that we wanna play
scrabble with them ????
Another thing that got me really mad is that way they have to
take the whole world for witness for things that only matter to
them... let me explain : yesterday I was at the post office and
there was an old man looking at the stamps you can buy for your
collection. The board with the stamps was placed high, but not
that high. But as he was old, he couldn't read. So he turned to
all the customers who were there and mumbled for 15 minutes
about that board that was too high to read and that was a
scandal... MAN WE DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THAT : we're just here to post a letter
and the waiting is boring enough without you !!
Ah, and I was about to forget that way they have to bring you
down for the whole day, just by discussing for an hour of how
rotten the world has become, how cruel this end of century is,
and how dumb and mean our generation is... if you listen to them
more than five minutes, you go and commit suicide right away to
avoid living another day !!! And also when they intend to direct
your life, just because they "went through it before you"....
Well that's the main thoughts that came to my mind during those
holydays, when I had to lock in my room to have a five
minutes break, and fight all day long my own fear of death
that they kept on exciting.... But when I was on the verge
of bursting, I just thought of the Phranc's song Myriam and Esther... and I
remembered why we have to stand old people... they are our
childhood memories, they love us and we need the pride in
their eyes when they look at us to grow up strong... but
Jesus why are they such a pain in the ass sometimes ??????
Myriam and Esther
I got her fishing jacket
And her recipes
But she can't be with me
Myriam
Myriam and Esther Myriam and Esther
Myriam and Esther live in my memories
She's got a hospital bed
In the room that used to serve as the den
And I cry everytime I see Myriam
Esther claps her hands
When she sees her son stan
Step from the elevator
She can't finish her sentence
But she finishes all her peas
She doesn't recognize me
Myriam
Myriam and Esther Myriam and Esther
Myriam and Esther always stuck up for me
What has happened to my Grandma ?
What has happened to my Nana ?
What has happened to my Grandma ?
What has happened to my Nana ?
Some people grow old gracefully
And some die in their sleep
But Myriam and Esther
Weren't blessed with that luxury
I got her fishing jacket
And her recipes
But she can't be with me
Myriam
Myriam and Esther Myriam and Esther
Myriam and Esther live inside of me
Phranc - I enjoy being a girl
