9:20 pm Wednesday 30th June 1999

Phew, another busy day. Fell asleep halfway through my last diary entry and with the light on at about 10:30 pm. Woke up about 8:30 am and went to work at about 9:00 am. Didn't get very much accomplished, continued to try to get the tri-substitution reaction to work with little success. Learnt from Marie how to make and edit the graphs for my presentation which will be useful. Finished work at around 6:30 pm and came home. As I was expecting, I had the "Orange-Phone-Message-Light-O'-Death". I still haven't checked the message yet, since I don't really want to know what it says. It will of course be my mother ringing back after she received my letter. Using my predictive powers I imagine she will she that she isn't disappointed in me and that I should continue to work through my Ph.D., and so on. I don't think much will have changed, she will probably continue to think that it's another "silly phase" and dismiss it. As for what Dad might think, I shudder to guess. By no little coincidence I got a phone call from my brother C-, which was no doubt prompted by Mum. Good heavens some times I just wish she would accept it and get over it. *sigh*
Spent the last couple of hours chatting to Susan, Jules and Bridget which was nice. Tomorrow we will all be going out for dinner at Mosaic's along with Red and Penny and a few others and this will be preceded by drinks at P. J. O'Riley's.
I rang the Doctor whom Michelle had recommended, but she is gone for two weeks and apparently has a full book of patients. This means I am looking for another doctor who is near Civic and understands the Benjamin Standards. This will be extremely rare I don't doubt. Nikki will ask at the Sexuality office, but they are apparently involved with their petty inter-office politics and will (I believe) be of little use. Bridget and Jules gave me a little present. It was an eye-rest pillow in leopard-skin. :) Which was really nice of them. Both Susan and Bridget have their last exams tomorrow.
So? What's the plan for tonight and tomorrow? I will go back to the lab just to set up a few overnight reactions, then come back here to crash. I don't know whether I want to listen to the message before I have to go to bed tonight, so I might leave it till tomorrow. I'll see what happens.
10:56 pm : What a laugh! After a power nap I decided to bite the bullet and check my voice-mail… There was no message, just someone ringing up and then hanging up. Nothing else, just a second or two and that was it. *lol* I wonder what has been going on in a small house in Southern N.S.W. this evening? I'll probably never know for sure and I imagine that it's a good thing. Sometimes being incommunicado is actually quite useful. ;)
