11:00 pm Wednesday 7th July 1999
Well, today will have to go down in the history books. I woke up around 10:00 am and didn't really want to go to work. By about 10:30 am I was ready to go to work, but I kept on thinking about making a doctor's appointment. Whilst waiting to fall asleep last night, I kept on reciting what I wanted to say to the receptionist to make an appointment. After reciting it a few more times, going for a little jog around the corridor to calm myself I rang the Medical center. First time the phone was engaged, the second time I go through. I had to repeat twice the fact I was looking for a doctor experienced in dealing with the transsexual community, but the receptionist seemed to know what to do once she heard me. She fixed me up with an appointment to see Dr S**** for 3:00 pm on Friday 15th July. When I got off the phone I put my head between my legs and took a very very deep breath. So there it is, the hardest part has been accomplished, just getting a doctors appointment. After that it's all referrals or so it seems.
Well it might not seem much to anybody else, but it was a heck of a huge step for me. According to the phone book, the doctor is Dr. S****. This doesn't tell me anything about the age or sex of the person, only that they are obviously of Asian descent. In the section under Interchange General Practice, this doctor is third after two others. Since the list isn't alphabetical I'm presuming that it might be a rank of hierarchy which is slightly reassuring I think. I will have to email Michelle and ask her if she knows anything about this particular person.
The appointment is for the day after my presentation which will be good since I will hopefully be rather less stressed.
Good heavens, what a pig I am. The little pasta packets which say "serves 4", well I just ate two of those! Not really all that much, but I only had a bowl of cereal at 11:00 am for the rest of the day.
What else have I been up to today? I had coffee with Red at 4:30 pm at Gods, so it was good to see her in the flesh. She was looking very suave in a semi-tuxedo looking outfit. We chatted for about 45 minutes and then she had to go and catch Penny.
My supervisors daughter was on "my" PC today so that was very annoying until I got to jump on and not leave it. Of course they completely stuffed up the screen settings which I had to reset which was damn annoying. I spent most of the day working on graphs, just like yesterday. Fortunately I seem to be getting the hang of it. At the moment the first half of the presentation looks quite good, but the second half is mostly just a skeleton which need much more work. I have about 8 days…
Thankfully tonight I can have a shower and relax a little bit but it's now 11:36 pm since I only left work at 10:30 pm and I will have to crash out quite soon.
The earrings are doing OK, there's no infection and they don't hurt. The only problem is the tendency for the right hand stud to get slightly pushed back through the hole which means I have to jiggle it to fix it. Still I enjoy them, there is one member of staff who used to talk to me fairly normally even after the extensions who's body language is now very different. Do I care? No, not in the slightest.
