11:00 pm Saturday 17th July 1999

Ahhhhhhh. What a fantastic last 48 hours I've had. My last diary entry was for late Thursday night. On Friday I kicked back, I was a bit bored at first because I woke up early and had nothing to do. I couldn't get an appointment at the gym for a massage, but I will get around to booking it sometime this week. Eventually I had to go in so that I could get Michelle's phone number. I kicked around the lab for a bit rang Michelle and we decided to met at Impact at 1:00 pm. This was about 12:00 pm. I was running late as usual, and whilst Michelle had been waiting outside Impact she had bumped into Julie which had been rather tense for her. I was in a really buoyant mood, and I told her all about my presentation and being on the radio and so on. We went to Café Essen for coffee and lunch and then had a look at a new shop in the Garema Mall and by then it was about 2:40 pm. Michelle and I walked to the Interchange GP and she went to do a bit of shopping whilst I saw the doctor. I filled in their forms, and asked them if they could refer to me as Steph rather than by the name on my Medicare card. This was fine by them and I really appreciated it.
After waiting about maybe 20 minutes, Dr S**** called me in, he is an Asian doctor who was really quite friendly. He listened to what I had to say and asked relevant questions. I can't really say that it was what I expected, because I didn't know what to expect. We chatted a bit more, and discussed the implications of the Roaccutane treatment and hormones. I will have to discuss this with Dr. M****** next time I see him. Dr S**** recommended a Gender Clinic in Melbourne, and gave me a cover letter which explained about their combined services. The whole consultation took about 30 minutes or so, and I made a booking to see Dr S**** again in a week.
When I went into the Doctor's room I really had a churning stomach, but thankfully that went away pretty quickly and when I came out I felt really elated and happy. Michelle was there waiting for me, and so I immediately gave her the full run down on what had happened. She had heard about the Melbourne Monash gender clinic and said that Jen had been there and had found them rather draconian and quite distrustful of young tranny's especially. We wandered around whilst we chatted, I was looking for a long black overcoat, and found a nice one in David Jones for only $229 which wasn't too bad in a relative sense. Michelle asked what I was getting up to later tonight, and I mentioned that tonight I was going with some friends of mine to Carlotta. I knew she was going later in the month but said she was welcome to come. Fortunately she was able to swap her tickets, and she could come after all! :)
It was a really nice day and I was very happy to chat with Michelle, and although she might not be in Canberra for too much longer, was glad to know that I had found such a kindred spirit. :)
We parted ways at about 5:00 pm, and organized to meet at Impact at 7:40 pm or so. I got home had what little food remained here and had a much deserved nap since I was very tired. Red gave me a call and asked if I wanted a lift. I figured this would be easiest, and they picked me up from here at 7:20 pm. Both Red and Penny (who was driving) were suited up, and I was wearing black pants, white shirt and waistcoat and my leather jacket. I picked up Michelle who was in pinstripe and red shirt and did the introductions. We wandered down to the casino and went in. There was quite a large crowd there already, but we managed to find some seats about half way back. Penny and Michelle were having a good natter, and so I was glad they were getting on. The show was quite good, there was Carlotta, Ginger, Linda, Vanity and two others whose names I can't recall. I was quite impressed by Vanity because although she was as tall as I, she had a very nice figure and quite a lot of facial work which looked great. I really want to get my jaw chiseled like hers I have to admit. Her nose was also fantastic too.
During the interval, Penny and Michelle wanted to go to the toilet, but couldn't be bothered waiting to go to the Ladies because there was a big queue so they went to the gent's instead, so that was pretty funny. The show finished late and we spent a fair while waiting downstairs because Michelle wanted to talk to the girls from the act. Eventually only Carlotta came down, but Michelle got to speak to her and Red got an autograph.
We wondered out into the fresh air which was a life-saver and headed up to Café Della in Garema Place.
We chatted there for about half an hour and then we were all keen to see the place which Penny was house sitting. It was in Belconnen and was pretty flash. The owner is an artist/sculptor so there was plenty of weird art stuff everywhere. We chatted and did coffee until about 4:00 am, and then we all headed off to bed. I got the girl's room, Michelle got the boys room and Red and Penny got the master bedroom. I still don't sleep well away from my own bed, and so with my early morning mechanism I woke up first around 8:30 am had a shower and kicked back watching Monkey until eventually everybody else surfaced between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. We just kicked back and mellowed the whole day. We took some silly photographs with my disposable camera had lunch and dinner, chatted away under the doona in the master bedroom. I got to talk to Michelle abut a lot of the things which were troubling me, and like I said, it has been really great to find a kindred spirit. :)
Michelle was trying to organize transport for the dinner at Aranda which was going to be a major hassle, but I decided to opt out and stay home for the evening. This made things a lot easier all round.
We packed up and headed off at around 5:00 pm, they dropped me off first, and then Red and then Michelle. I crashed out and after I woke up ordered a pizza. That was good, because I'm down to a can of strawberries and some two minute noodles. For the rest of the evening I have been uploading all my prose and witing my diary. I also sent an email to Jen asking about this Melbourne place, personally I would prefer Psych in Canberra and the Endo in Sydney, but I will listen to whatever she has to say. It is now 12:00 am.
So what can I say to sum things up? I really have had a great last day or two. I am happier than I have been in quite a while and can see that finally there are things I can achieve. If the Roaccutane was working, things would be just perfect, but that's yet to be seen. Still, life is good and I am happy. Things are moving ahead. :)
