9:00 pm Tuesday 20th July 1999
For some reason it seems as though I always need to ease myself into my diary entry with a little phrase. Sort of like throat-clearing for a writer I guess.
So what's been happening today? Woke up at 9:30 am, I deliberately got up early since yesterday I had a headache from over-sleeping. Got into the lab around 10:30 am and put on the reaction I had wanted to start yesterday. It was quite a social day with me being in demand about questions for the location of different papers and reaction conditions. I don't think my reaction worked, but because the NMR was so busy I didn't find out till very late in the day. Started working on my Mid-term report which is a 20 page report to complement my presentation. Also gave my supervisor my annual report to look at and sign. My supervisor leaves for Germany for three months on the 20th August which is a month away. I'm not sure how I'll survive, it'll be weird to say the least.
Came home around 6:30 pm. Had a bowl of two-minute noodles with a can of chili type sauce which I found up the back of my cupboard next to an old can of shaving cream. It wasn't too bad, and I have two more packets of noodles and half the can of chili left which should do tomorrow's dinner as well. Not exactly nutritious, but until I have money to go shopping it will have to do.
I figure that for the Ball I would like to get a new corset and maybe a new pair of shoes. That's about $300 so I'm definitely wanting to get John's paid off as soon as possible. Of course, I still have to pay for my dermatologist appointment in two weeks.
I haven't received any responses to the swag of email which I sent out over he last few days. I was wondering if my email server was broken, but it's not.
Hurrah! I just rechecked my email and Catherine (bless her) had responded. She said there was mixed reviews about the Monash center, and best to ask Jen who is apparently getting back tomorrow. Apparently the clinic is "free" so this might be why there is such a high demand and a need for the clinic to be "selective".
I've also uploaded my diary entries for the past three weeks or so, so it's nice that I can finally have time to update my site. I guess with so many different things happening I always have something to write about in the diary and new bit's and pieces to add.
My course of Roaccutane is continuing. I know now for certain that my body smell has changed a lot which is strange. I can't place the smell, but it is unusual. It doesn't disappear even after I shower. I presume this is due to the lack of any oil in my skin. Thankfully I can allow myself a shower tonight. My skin is so dried out, I went to the toilet this morning and there was blood on the toilet paper, aarrrggghhhhh… Again I state that it would be very ironic if my acne was caused by an excess of androgens. ;)
My disc drive seems to be playing up these day also, it sometimes will, sometimes won't accept disks from work which makes it hard to bring work home.
I think Michelle will be back from Sydney by now, today was ~8 hours of electrolysis which must have really sucked. I slashed my nails off yesterday, they were just getting a little bit long. It's about the first time that I've had a complete set which actually didn't look too bad. I get the right hand thumb nail because it's useful for scratching labels and stuff off.
Oh, Jules and Susan brought me back a present from New Zealand, it was a pair of incredibly bright green socks with Kiwi fruit on them. They're pretty funky, thanks guys. :)
It's now 10:00 pm, I'm going for a shower.
10:45 pm Back from the shower and now having a bowl of cereal for dinner. I have to admit that I really do like the student life style. Where else could you have cereal as dinner, or like last night use a jar of salsa dip as sauce on your 10 minute pasta? Considering how much junk I eat, I was really surprised at the weekend when I jumped on a set of scales at Penny's place and found I still weighed ~76 kg. I thought I was going to balloon out with the cold weather making me hungry all the time. I can't wait to start hormones (fingers crossed) so that I can shed this excess muscle mass, then I'll be really happy. Of course my weight may be offset by the retention of fat under the skin and around the hips. We'll see what happens, because that's a long way off. [But getting closer I hope.] :)
1:25 am : Just replied to an email which Szusza sent me. Nothing too exciting, just good to hear from her. Also said thanks to Catherine as well. I'm off to bed… *yawn*
