Midnight 12:00 am Friday 22nd July 1999
Wow! That's all I can say even after an hour of realization… My "diary" has now been going for over a year! My first entry was on 18th July 1998. And what was the topic of conversation? Hormones! ;)
It really has come full circle. There's now about 70 or so entries and of course these days it seems to be getting longer each night. :)
So I read all my diary entries for the past year and it was a really good trip back in time. I can't believe that so much time has passed, things seem weirdly compressed and stretched so it was odd to be able to see it laid out like that. Wow, who knows what the next 12 months might bring!
What have I been up to today? Michelle called me at 8:30 am to see if I wanted to do lunch, which I of course readily accepted. Went to the lab and started up a reaction and started doing the mid-term report. About 12:30 pm Michelle dropped by so I gave her a quick tour of the lab and she was telling me that she had been to dinner with another tranny who was also a chemist. Apparently she is an analytical chemist who is a real little elf. It's good to hear that there is another tranny chemist out there somewhere, hopefully some day soon there will a genuine tranny post-doc too. :)
We were walking into Civic and we bumped into Julie which was totally "Twilight Zonish", they had a bit of a courteous chat and I stood around looking and feeling awkward. Thankfully no fireworks appeared and so after a few minutes Michelle and I continued to walk into Civic.
We ended up going to a sushi place near the Canberra center and eating there. The sushi wasn't what I had expected, but it was quite nice anyway. After that we dropped by the computer games store on the bottom of the Canberra center to so Michelle could ask about a new game, then we had to head over to the Interchange practice because Michelle had an appointment at 2:00 pm with Dr C*****. Whilst we were sitting there I saw Dr S***** who must have thought I was going to see him, but that's not until tomorrow. I wandered around to the newsagent and into Impact and then back to the Interchange GP. Michelle had finished early and was waiting out the front. We wandered around for a bit longer, chatting the whole time until Michelle had to get home. So we walked to the bus interchange and she said good bye. She was really nice and gave me a big hug, but as she was doing so the bus drove off! This was totally weird, and so she had to wait a bit longer for the next one (~5-10 minutes) and then she gave me another hug and got successfully onto the bus.
I walked back to Uni with my yellowed sunglasses on and reveled in the odd looks which I got the whole time. I got back about 3:20 pm and went back to work. I got various hunger surges and so on, so the rest of the day wasn't very productive. Left work to go shopping at ~6:00 pm, and I came home at ~7:30 pm. I crashed out because of the abrupt wake-up and crawled out at 9:00 pm to read my diary and then have a shower. I shaved my chest again finally, and my face too. This is for tomorrow when I see Dr Soo again, and also because I'll be going to the hairdressers to get my extensions out!
Yes, after just shy of 9 months I finally got around to making an appointment to get them out. Although they have been getting rather stringy since about March, when curled up into a bun they made a useful anchor for the hair-band which kept the rest of my hair in place. It is going to be like totally freaky trying to sleep tomorrow night, I haven't slept flat on my back in so long. Apparently getting them out will take an hour or two, and I have it booked for 10:00 am, so I will have to get up early. Then, in the afternoon at 3:00 pm I have my next appointment with Dr Soo. That should hopefully go well, and I'll be asked to be referred to the Psychologist Dr Tym; the next hurdle. It's kind of ironic (yeah I know I overuse that term, but bite me) ;), that my first Doctors appointment was on the 16th of July 1999 and my first diary entry discussing the hormone question was on the 18th of July 1998. So it took me just under a year from my first tentative question until stepping into the firing line and doing something. Of course, it you're looking for coincidences, Michelle gave me the address of the Interchange practice on the 25th of June, which is exactly six months before Christmas. Meaningless coincidence? Important synchronicity? Does it matter anyway? I have said before that I would like to start New Year 2000 with my first dose of Androcur, I feel it would somehow be just right. Of course, presuming that I see Prof. Steinbeck before I go home for Xmas, it is going to be hard not to start much earlier, i.e. as soon as I can find a pharmacy which stocks Androcur. ;)
1:00 am : I'm in such a good mood these days, my happiness scale is riding around 9 whilst my unhappiness scale is only on a 2.
Must remember to a whole bunch of stuff tomorrow, get money from the bank for tomorrow and for the weekend. Remember all my appointments and do some more shopping. I don't expect to get a lot of work done what with everything going on and it being Friday, but I have to meet the deadline of getting the corrected version of my mid-term report back from my supervisor by August 20 at the extreme latest. He'll be packing for 3 months in Germany and so I can't expect to get very much of his time, so I have to get it all ready for him to scribble all over and get it done fast. This means having it to him by the Friday 13th August if I realistically want it to be looked at properly. Therefore I've got three weeks.
Right now, I'm off to bed. Busy day tomorrow… :)
