Well, what a singularly interesting couple of days it has been. Thursday as already reported was Valete. Friday night, Andrew and Danie turned up at dinner and we all decided to go out. Went to P.J.'s again, but Jules wasn't allowed in because he was wearing sneakers, so that was a bit of a bummer. We were all having a few drinks, Susan was moping about Jules not being there, so we bought her a few lemon/lime/bitters with nips of vodka in them and she cheered up. There was, Danie, Andrew, Bridget, Susan myself, Lloyd, Paul and Heather. It was a lot of fun, Andrew walked back with Susan at about 12:00am presumably so they could have chats, that left us to continue drinking and chatting till about 2:00am. We staggered back carrying Paul because he was totally off his trolley. He must weigh a fair bit, because I could barely feel my arm by the time we dropped him onto his bed.
Saturday morning came around, I was my usual groggy self when Lloyd knocked on the door and asked if I wanted to set up the BBQ. After I gave my deathly groan, he figured that he'd be better off getting JD to help. After properly waking up, I caught a lift down with Bridget to Black Mountain peninsula, where they had set up the tent and BBQ. It was a nice afternoon, nothing special. It got cloudy and rained a bit and eventually cleared up. There was about 20-25 people there, a good mix. Bridget and Heather were going to show everybody "Buck and Roll" but chickened out.
After that we went to Tilley's for coffee. But there was just too many people. Someone suggested we sit at a really long thin table which was annoying for the people who got to sit at the far ends. The we decided to drive up to the top of Mount Ainslie, but Paul car broke down. Most of us went to "All Bar Nun" while they waited for the NRMA. It was a real crappy pub, not dingy or smelly, but just no atmosphere or anything. It was quite windy and cold, and people were quite tired. We went home , Heather and Lloyd had a bit of a domestic, and stayed in while a few other went to P.J.'s. It wasn't that much fun, it was Halloween night but nobody was in the mood. Paul and I walked Rebel back to the Union, where she ran into some friends and went back out on the town. I went to bed.
Today nothing much happened, I did laundry, some lab-work and that was about it. I got somebody else to buy a pizza, but it was utterly revolting. By the third slice I was really regretting it. Wrote up my report for tomorrow's meeting, and here I am now at 4:30am in the morning..
On Friday night at P.J.'s, I was at the bar and Bridget came over. She said she had read my email, and my pulse jumped a bit. She said she didn't care about anything thing like that, but rather what kind of person I was (or words to that effect, it was noisy and I was drunk). I really appreciated hearing that from her, because her acceptance/understanding meant so much to me. I'm not sure how much she read, and so I'm not sure what exactly she thinks is going on, but I hope it clears up a lot of confusion and curious questions.
