20th February

10:00 pm Saturday 20th February 1999

I'm in my room listening to the radio, I'm about to head back over to the lab on foot, because my bike blew a tire earlier this evening. I have a few reactions cooking which I have to take care of. After that I don't know what I'll get up to.
I've moved into an early morning phase, so I don't know how long I'll last tonight. I still have to respond to Sam's email and phone messages, I know I have to tell him that I can't make it anymore, but hopefully it will be easier now that I've moved and he can only contact me by email.
Nikki and Szusza and a few others went out for dinner tonight I think. I had lunch with Nikki on Tuesday, so it was nice to see her. We chatted about mostly everything.
I've been working on the papers mostly this week, I am slightly worried about the future of my project since it seems to involve too much lead in work and too few novel compounds at the end. I will talk about this with my supervisor, however he's writing up grant proposals, so I don't want to bother him until Tuesday.
What else? I got badly sun-burnt on my last day in New Zealand. It's since peeled off and left me with a scaly belly, but at least I can sleep at nights. All the new students at Johns should be arriving back tomorrow, so it's going to get real noisy. The RA's and RT's have already come back along with all the "cool" people. Everybody else doesn't get back until supposedly until Tuesday. And of course I've made a splash with my new hair, it's funny I was walking along toward the glass doors and could see them all staring via the reflections in the glass. Humans make me laugh. I had a few questions around the place, people trying to pretend they hadn't heard anything about the extensions and pretending to be surprised. Waking up early has it's advantages and disadvantages, it seems good to be up during the sunlit hours, but its harder to get things done at night because I'm so tired. It's about 12:00am, but instead it feels like its about 2:30 am. Oh well, too tired to write, I'm off to bed.
