5:20 pm Saturday 27th March 1999

It's a rainy Saturday afternoon, I'm kicking back in front of the computer listening to some Beethoven which I just bought today at Impact Records. It the complete collection of his 9 symphonies. A total of 5 CD's, and it only cost me $20! Not bad eh. I'm listening to the 9th, and I'm half way through the second movement. It's quite nice, and well worth the price.
What have I been up to? Not a great deal. I went into civic for a look around and my bike got a flat. Just a tiny shard of glass, but enough to make me have to stuff around and have to carry my bike back to college. It had also just started to rain, so I got rather wet and it was good to get home though I was quite annoyed by the time I got here.
Last night was the house warming for the Burt St mob, it was actually much better than I expected. I got there at about 7:30 pm, with Susan and Red and a few others, and there were a fair number of people who I didn't know, but it was going alright. I met a few new people, but most of the night there were about a dozen of us dancing in the front living room with the lights out to Apollo 4-40 and Faithless. It was really great, the kind of dancing scene which I would much prefer to go to rather than Moosehead's or some place like that. At one stage there was myself, Wicks, Chris and Lloyd dancing with our shirts off because we were just absolutely covered in sweat. A singlet or crop-top would have been much appreciated. Will (Heather's younger brother) got fairly pissed and Alex K-H got comatose. This seems to be his style, though I don't understand why. The party peaked quite early ~ 11:30 pm, which was good because it allowed us to walk home carrying Alex and be in bed by about 2:00 am. However, I didn't finally get to sleep until about 3:00 am. I woke up this morning at about midday and washed my hair. It was all sweaty and yuck from all the dancing. During the week I had coffee with Nikki, so it was good to see her again. We chatted about most things as per usual, and it was good to continue to have some small contact with the Canberra T* community, even through several degrees of separation.
Ah Ha! The fourth movement, with the climactic "Ode to Joy" which everybody is familiar with. I suppose half the reason I bought the collection was just for this ~13 minute long piece.
Yes, the final two parts of Neon Genesis Evangelion is on tonight, I have booked the SCR television tonight, there is no way that I'm going to miss out on this one. It's followed by a Japanese monster movie "Gappa : The Triphibian Monster." Which looks absolutely tackily magnificent. Lots of toy buildings being crushed and really crappy special effects. After that I don't know what I'll get up to.
Everybody seems to have disappeared. Susan and Lloyd don't seem to be home, though I thought I saw Bridget's car before.

12:30 am Sunday

This isn't exactly my typical style, but I thought that I might just finish off this little write up before I went to bed. I watched the two final Neon Genesis episodes with Susan, and I had to admit that at the end I was very disappointed. Basically we sat there for an hour listening to the main characters pour out the tortured psyches and ponder on the meaning of life until at the very end Sinji decided that life was worth living (i.e. he got some self-respect). Important though this might be, I sure as heck didn't think it was worth a full hour to end such a climactic build-up which has being raised over the series. I searched on the net to help me try and understand just what the hell was going on, but I did find out that there is a movie and maybe a second series. Oh well…
To make up for it (somehow) there was a Japanese monster movie afterwards which was quite delightfully appalling so that was alright. Also "The Wings of Honnemaise" is on Monday night which will be really good to see again.
