Well, my item of interest for today is my waxing! Yes, finally plucked (no pun intended) up the courage, made the booking yesterday, and went in for my appointment today at 2:30. The place was up in the Centerpoint building in Civic, and was laid out really well. I said I had an appointment, and so we went to the waxing room, where I laid down on my back for about an hour or so, while she did my face. I have to admit, it did hurt, but I was able to keep my composure and endure it. Hardest part was my top lip, that was quite sore at the time. After that, she (Paula the beautician) waxed my chest, and I have to admit that at times that hurt more than my face. Down below my belly-button was quite tender, and so was around the nipples. That was a lot quicker, because she was using cloth strips and doing big areas at a time. I have to admit that I felt quite vulnerable at the time, I had taken my jersey and singlet off, I was only wearing my shorts and shoes, lying on a table under the direct gaze of a woman I had only just met an hour ago, with my pathetic spotty chest exposed to the world. I got over it, but I was glad to at least be able to put my singlet back on. Finally she did my arms, and that seemed like the fastest part of the whole event. The bill came to $120, but it was worth it. While we were talking, Paula asked what the Ball was for, I said it was for the Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered Community, I'm pretty sure that if she hadn't clicked by then, then she did when I said that. She asked if I had thought about electrolysis, I said I had, but didn't know enough to decide yet. I might ask again in future. She asked what I was going to wear, I said I didn't know, something low-cut without sleeves we guessed, may as well get my money's worth. ;) All in all it was really good, the girls were really nice and friendly, and I definitely think that I will go back there in future. Apparently the hair grows back much finer and slower after waxing, and that you should avoid shaving between waxing. Today was the 25th, so if I can get away without shaving for 2 or 3 weeks that would be great.
Well, the Ball is now less than 24 hours away, I haven't had any particularly bad panic attacks yet, but I'm sure that they will start at about 4pm tomorrow. I don't know, I guess I just can't believe that I'm actually going to be stepping out in public tomorrow. It just seems a bit of an idle fantasy at the moment.
