So, it's horribly early in the morning and I'm awake, to some degree I'm pining for Allison somewhat, a fairly common occurrence. While it's true that I want us to be together in the one place, I would feel bad asking her to move far away from her many friends she has in LA and become an itinerant as I move from position to position. The other choice might seem t be for me to find a position somewhere in LA, but the chance of that itself is not altogether high.
On Sunday night I was at a lesbian night at a local pub. I got talking to one girl Neena who's girlfriend graduated which meant that they were separated for 3 years, I marveled at her endurance. Saturday night for me was one of loneliness, usually I get through the week by being social at gaming night, but last week it wasn't on, and that left me on a downward spiral. I'd like to think that the long periods of being alone were leading to some kind of "pay-off" but it's hard to believe it at times.
Well, Friday's entry indicates more than ever that people write in their diaries when depressed. It really isn't that bad, because during the daylight hours I'm fine, it's just at night where I get a bit lonely. I do have friends, but as Allison keeps telling me I have to reach out to them.
Yesterday at about 7 pm I went down to the bookshop, and Anthony (from gaming night) gave me a call, he wanted to know if I wanted to go bowling and of course I said yes. Avi (also from gaming) gave me a lift there and I brought a gift of "Australian crack" i.e. Tim-Tam's, for Jill, Anthony's girlfriend and a few Smirnoff Ice drinks for myself.
At the bowling alley we had a few drinks at the bar, played some darts, found some good songs on the jukebox and ate some greasy food. Finally we got into the bowling proper. I had bowled twice within the last month, once in Canberra and once in LA. Regardless I was as they say "On fire" and in my first game I scored 157 with 6 strikes, I couldn't believe my luck. As it was, that basically tired my arm out for the rest of the night and I ended up bowling more like my usual self. After many games, we finally left about 2:30 am and Avi dropped me off home at about 3:30 am.The next morning (today), I was rather badly hung-over which took several hours, a shower, lots of water and food to make it go away. I chatted with Allison on the phone and told her all about my exploits. This afternoon I spent some time at the lab, as well as buying food for the BBQ/cook out tomorrow. Anthony invited me along to a big outdoors affair going on at his place as part of the Memorial Day celebrations, so I am assigned to bring desserts and cheese to the fray. I'll let you know how that goes after it happens.
