Scarcely 24 hours to Allison gets here. :) Today was a fairly uneventful work day, the only difference being the downpour which was going when I woke up at 7:30 and which didn't quit until after lunch. I walked to the shuttle bus and caught it into the lab. I got in about 10:30 am, but no big deal. We had the usual Wednesday meeting which went easily enough and then I came home about 6 pm. Things are fairly busy trying to get my place semi-respectable, I was cleaning out the fridge and in the chiller tray I found a bag of liquefied black goo which once upon a one might have claimed it was a vegetable.
Well, Allison is here, She arrived on the 10 pm flight and before we got home we first had to contend with a taxi driver who was either drugged up or half-asleep, and yet he was awake enough to want his extra 50 cents. So much stuff to do, so little time.
I got home from work about 5:30 pm yesterday to have her greet me smiling at the door. We chatted and I lay down for a while, after an hour we decided to go shopping at the supermarket. Just before we left the apartment, Mum called which was strange since she'd only just called on Wednesday night. The conversation started off with approximately "I read your diary this morning and I hope you cancel."
I was pretty freaked out by the timing, but told her that I wasn't going to turn back and tried to explain that I'd planned this out and been careful and thorough in my research, but to little avail. Fortunately she stopped mentioning it, and we were able to have a relatively normal conversation.
