It's been an up and down kind of week. Early in the week I was a whirlwind of activity. I had data to collect and collate at the lab, and so I was working on that and started writing up the next paper. At home I was working away with a new lump of Sculpey trying to get a particular figurine to work. Yet after Wednesday things seemed to slow down a bit and by Friday I was suffering from a terrible case of ennui. I'm not sure of the exact reason, but I think the repetitive nature of things and the long hours in the lab were taking their toll on my motivation.
Monday is Labour Day and so this is a long weekend. All the University students are back crowding up the place, though undoubtedly many have taken a small vacation out of town like the guys from the lab. Myself I have no immediate plans except to try and rest and rebuild my motivation for work. I will only have 2 months after this weekend and I'll be increasingly worried about finding a job, right up until the end.
On a good note however, last night we played our Call of Cthulhu session and it was a lot of fun. Our GM loves props, so after I brought out 1) A yellowed and ancient Chinese book, 2) The Elder Sign 3) The "Shambler" statue and 4) a pipe for one of the Professors to gesticulate with, he let me raise one of my character attributes out of gratitude. I was just happy to play. :)
9:05 pm - Well, I've been home for about an hour. I went out to dinner with Linda and Barbara-Anne, before they headed on down to the Tri-Ess meeting. I got home and Mum called and so I talked to her and Dad for a while. I'm working on a little film short which Ally and I have been talking about, it's related to the so-called "Marfa (sp?) lights", but I won't say too much more till I've got it into some sort of shape.
Ally has been feeling a bit down and so today I've been encouraging her to go down to Malibu Beach and go surfing. I know I have to get her out of the house and doing stuff when she is down, so hopefully she'll take my advice. I think she really is wanting to do something creative in film, but is frustrated by writers block and a lack of funds. I am sure this is only a temporary thing.
