Feast and...

It's Sunday afternoon and I'm taking it easy. In preparation for the busy week ahead I'm in the process of cooking up a whole bunch of vegetables and pasta so that I have something more healthy than cheese sandwiches to sustain me. It's been busy, on Saturday afternoon I went over to the lab to check email and I worked a little on the papers. I came home and Anthony called wanting to know if I wanted to do something low-key since his girlfriend Jill was away. I said sure and so about 7 pm Avi and I drove up to Fort Lauderdale and we decided to go somewhere I'd never been before, some place altogether magical and mystical...
Wal-Mart.

It was I admit very big, and I have long been told that it is pretty much the cheapest place to get stuff. I was fairly impressed that I found a tube of Revlon Complete-Cover Concealer, I just wish I had more time to look through the hair-care section. As it was, I had more than ample opportunity to waste my money on other things. We spent perhaps an hour or more wandering around looking at stuff and then we decided to go and see a movie. We couldn't find a regular theatre, so we went to the drive-in, alas the only thing that was even bearable to see was "xXx" which had been cancelled. We thought about going to the trotting track, but Avi didn't want to. In the end we finished up at a bowling alley after midnight playing a few games and then after that we drove home and I crashed out about 2:30 am.

Today has been no different. I woke up about 10 am and caught the Metrorail into Downtown to check out a big library book sale they were having. It was rather disappointing since most of the books were fiction and not good ones at that. I walked over to the nearby Historical Museum of Southern Florida as a consolation prize. It had two interesting exhibitions on The Art of Cuban Flora and Fauna, and "489 Years of Florida" both of which were very interesting. I spent some of the time talking to the cute museum guide. ;) I came back around 1:30 pm and went to the lab briefly, I checked on email and then came home. I talked to Allison for a fair while and then did some shopping, and here I am.

In general it's hotter than hell down here, with temps still up to 90 F and +80% humidity. On the plus side the two papers seem to be coming along ok, though my boss wants me chasing an experimental result which I feel I am better off leaving for another day. Oh well, ups and downs...

Nothing much to say.

Thankfully today ended better than it started, I cam in and got annoyed at my boss over him changing his ideas on the review, but by the end of the day it had worked itself out. Things are otherwise pretty quiet as I slide into the weekend. Gaming was on last night and it was fun though I was hot and a bit tired.
One very cool thing that happened is that Illara made a little banner for me. I sent her a short "stop-frame" film which you can make with my digital camera and she took one of the photos and got busy with her l33t hax0r skillz. :) I like it a lot and in the unlikely event that people want to link to me they can use it as a banner.
