Today was pretty much the same as the past 40 or 50 days. Stagger to work half-asleep, do lots of writing, come home, eat, sweat a fair bit and write at the computer.
So, now that I've written about today I can move into more speculative areas.
I think travel is important for personal development. I don't merely mean going from once piece of suburbia to an identical one some place else, I'm taking about living and interacting in a culture quite different to your own. Australians tend to be long-term tourists of the classic "backpacking" mould, which I think is an admirable trait to possess. It lets one see different cultures at fine resolution and thereby hopefully encourages people to further accept the enormous diversity present in the world. Many of the people I know have lived here their whole life in the same city and may well finish it there also, I can't help but think that while they might be content with this, there is so much else to see out in the world.
In other news I bought football tickets for the University of Miami Hurricanes Vs The University of Connecticut (sp?) this weekend. I want to take my friends as a "thank you" for their friendship and kindness while I have been here. They are much more into football than I, myself I am going for the spectacle and to see what it is like, I can say I don't like it once I have actually been.
