I haven't been into work today yet, I couldn't really see much point. Instead I did some laundry, took out the garbage and went to the hardware store to grab some things. I have subsequently discovered that white paint is the greatest stain "remover" known to human kind.
But, the rest of the week first. Saturday was quiet, I went to work for just a short while but left not long after. I decided to go and see "Die Another Day" about 1 pm, it wasn't the best Bond film I've seen, the suspension of belief required was a little much. At 5 pm I got a lift down to my boss's house as he was hosting a farewell for me and the other guy who is finishing up. It was nice although fairly subdued, my boss had cooked a huge amount of meat and we all sat around watching "Shrek". I guess we left after about 3 or 4 hours.
Sunday was also rather quiet, and I did almost nothing except lounge around in bed.
Monday was definitely interesting. My boss said early that he wanted someone moved to my bench and fume-cupboard that day. Almost everything was cleaned up, but I made sure that it was as clean and tidy as possible. It felt quite sad to see someone taking up my seat and work-space and so I started cleaning out my office desk also. I came home and called around a number of moving companies and I was able to get a few non-binding quotes over the phone. This gave me a rough idea of what price to expect, but I also have a few companies who are going to send someone around to make an assessment and give me a fixed quote. In fact that's what I'm waiting on at the moment.
Yesterday I also tried to get the money back from my plane ticket with National which I lost when the company went under. My credit Union is trying to chase that down, but I don't expect much luck.
I also booked a rental car for Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday I expect to be driving around picking up moving boxes and packaging and on Thursday I want to head down to Key West. Driving in Miami will be interesting, but I guess I had to do it eventually. Naturally I applied for full insurance.
4 pm - Well, this morning I waited in vain for the first company to come by and do an estimate for me.
