Well, I'm still fairly crook with the flu, but there is something which couldn't help but cheer me up… *drum roll* This Friday, coming to a movie theatre in Montana near you, Lagaan! Pathos, drama, action, thrills, a cliff-hanger cricket match! All in a Bollywood blockbuster near you in a neat 3 hour and 40 minute package! W00t! Reviews here and here. :)
I was in the supermarket the other day, and up towards the checkout was a shelf of videos. Nothing particularly redeemable, but one did catch my eye “Veggie Tales”. Now, if some one came up to me and asked, “What's the best way to honour and praise my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?”, I only wish that I could remember to say “Animated vegetables my boy”. Of course there is the inevitable preach factor, but after 6 years in Catholic boarding school, I think I'm fairly immune. I know there was a movie out last year and so I have this indelible curiosity. I mean just having two main characters Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber doing an interpretation of David and Goliath with Goliath as a 9 foot pickle strikes me as very Pythonesque. Heck, the animated vegetables of Nineveh slap each other with fish…
Yes, so I'm obviously still sick, I'm on the mend however I couldn't help but make a SARS joke or two. On a related note, the Bob the Angry Flower cartoon for this week is rather appropriate.
Everything here is coated in a yellowy layer of pollen, yesterday the wind was really gusting, bring more precious pollen from every state between here and the Great Lakes. I guess that's one of the downsides of living here, but oh well.
On a completely unrelated note, a shout-out to my good friend Rachel back in Oz. I've been meaning to send her pics and a postcard for sometime now, the postcard is ready to go, but I won't be sending any pics until I lose the bloodshot eyes.
