Perfect Blue.

Ok, I'm falling behind I admit, nothing is really grabbing my attention away exactly, maybe I'm just less focussed. The week was fairly slow in terms of productivity, no surprise there but the daytime temperature is cooling off, so hopefully things will pick up.
I had a rather worthless Wednesday meeting which had me climbing the walls, and then my boss was in on Friday, so I talked with him for some time. The high school teacher has been in and out organizing her new job for the coming semester. She is trying to finish her poster of the work she has done, and I'm trying my best not to be as critical as I would be for anyone else. Thursday I had lunch with Tiffany, it was $5 pizza day and so we sat around at her place talking and eating which was a welcome break.
Partially disguised couch Friday afternoon I left work early than usual as I just couldn't stay around, so I guess flexible hours are one of the intangible benefits of my job. For some time now I've been intending to get a couch for my apartment, and earlier in the week I mentioned this to Tiffany, and she said that Tanya might let us use her truck. So Friday afternoon I cycled down to the Salvation Army and check out the used furniture they had for sale. After some indecision as to whether Tanya would let me use her truck, I finally decided to put some money down. I named my purchase “The World's Second Ugliest Couch” and after paying the princely sum of $7.50 I was able to leave it there for pick up the next day.

After that I cycled over to the tattoo shop and decided to put some money down there as well. I know that there was a woman in town who also does tattooing, but I was never able to get in contact with her. There was only one appointment left in the next two-week period because most of the staff had gone down to a big motorbike rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. That appointment was confirmed with a $20 deposit for Tuesday 5th August at 6 pm. After taking the plunge, mundane life resumed as I grabbed groceries and came home for a night in.

The weekend was again very lazy, I cooked pancakes for breakfast (well, brunch really) and then I went shopping with Brandon, Tiffany and Tanya. We dropped via *.-mart and then I asked Tanya if it would be ok if we picked up the couch. She had a bad headache, aggravated by Brandon to some degree, but thankfully she said yes. We dropped by the Salvation Army store shortly before closing and got two of their guys to load the couch into the truck. It was much heavier than I had thought because unexpectedly it turned out that the couch had a metal fold out bed inside. We brought this home to my apartment and after some struggling, we managed to get it inside, I dumped my groceries and Tanya dropped us off at the supermarket to organize dinner while she went and had a lie down.
Later on we cooked some steaks on the barbeque and watched some television until about 9:30 pm, at which point we headed over to the theatre to watch “American Wedding”. I'd managed to avoid the first two films in this rather dubious trilogy, but I was mildly amused and happy to be there with some good company. We stopped by Tiffany's place and talked till late before crashing, it was a nice night.
Sunday was a complete write off, and I did almost nothing productive. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I simply spent a lot of time in bed and then late in the evening I went over to Tiffany's and ended up watching “Extreme Engineering” on the Discovery channel. Nothing particularly scintillating, but it was nice just to hang. :)

Today was a mixed bag, I spent much of the day filtering one solution which just kept clogging the filter. Scientific studies have proven the efficacy of a mid afternoon nap, and feeling tired I came home to have a late lunch and then napped for 40 minutes. It definitely worked, because I was able to wait at the lab until almost 8 pm to finish the filtration.
Feeling like I needed some exercise and fresh air I went for a long bike ride. There wasn't going to be enough time to go for my regular run before the sunset, so I cycled past my usual jogging trails. I got home with a sore bum, but feeling fairly good. I watched part of “Samurai Jack : The Movie” which I had rented from Hastings video store on Friday to test out my computers DVD drive. Unfortunately it couldn't play the very end because of scratches on the disc which was annoying. After a shower I talked to Ally for a little while, she was supposed to have dinner with Calpernia Adams and Andrea James, two well known names in the T* community. Alas the fuel pump in Ally's car died and she couldn't make it there, it had been a bad day and so I tried to cheer her up.
I haven't really got much planned for tomorrow, I'll tried to get some work done, but I have my tattoo appointment at 6 pm, so I know I'm going to be rather nervous about that. I was hoping Tiffany could come along to keep me company, but alas because of the timing of the appointment, she'll be working.
