Well, what an interesting week it has been. First piece of news for the day is that I happily passed the basic algebra exam. I've been studying on and off for the last week, and this paid off, as I was able to squeak through the 65% cut-off. I did not do as well on the “College level” algebra exam, only managing 4/14 when I needed to break even. Nevertheless, I've seen the format (which was part of my concern) and I might go for it again in another week or so. If I do, I doubt I'll pass the final pre-calculus exam, but it's nice to know that my high-school maths hasn't been completely forgotten.
In the end I signed up for two 3 credits classes this semester, and I was happily surprised how cheap it worked out, after my in state tuition and staff waiver kicked in. One of the classes is an introductory economics class while the other is a “Business Communications” class, the latter of which, I consider to be somewhat easier from what I have read about it.
It turns out that Tiffany's grandfather is doing ok; she just went out of town unexpectedly and for longer than she intended. Her friend Judy came back on Wednesday and so we stayed up late into the night drinking and exchanging “summer stories”. Yesterday Doug got back as well and he brought his friend Richard with him. That was cool, and after I'd recovered from my run (the second in two days) I headed over to say hello. Richard and Doug were unpacking all of Doug's stuff, and after a while Tiffany came down as well.
