Heads up people.

The habit of diary writing is really just a matter of practice, once you get into the groove eventually it just happens. Of course, I don't claim that my diary is good or even interesting, but at least I feel it is a rewarding experience. Let's see, what was I doing this time last year… Hmmm… Ah yes, I had just finished the first iteration of the review, I was about to go with my friends to a Miami Hurricanes football match, and I was on the job hunt.

Well, today was fairly quiet, I work up late and took things very easy. About midday I went to the lab to check on things, and after about an hour I dropped by Doug's place to swap photos of Yellowstone. Tiffany came down and later on we went to her place, I asked if anything was up, but I got the usual “Everything is fine” line, and decided to leave it at that. Her parents are coming over next weekend, the same day as the dance and they don't know anything. I hope it works out ok for her, I'll just give her some space and see how it goes.
After that I went for a cycle to enjoy the autumn colours around town. Then I came home and copied some MP3's from Tiffany online. We chatted for a little while on mIRC and then I was getting antsy and so I went out for a run. After that was a shower and a nap, and tonight pizza and just chilling out.

There's a lot of stuff which is missing from the second half of September, but mainly it was a lot of going out, drinking and luxurious mornings lying in bed. Richard (Doug's BF) came down from Northern Montana on the weekend of the 26th and that was a lot of fun. We made it out to KO's on the Saturday night and then when we had enough of that we came home to chill out at my place. More drinking and fun ensued, plus an early morning adventure to feed the local ducks. We stayed up until about 4 in the morning, and I folded out the couch/bed for Doug and Richard to sleep on. The next day (Sunday) was very lazy with none of us getting out of bed before midday. I cooked a breakfast of pancakes, bagels and fruit and then we hung out some more until about 3 pm. It was a hell of a fun weekend.

Work has been very busy over the last month, I gave a two presentations, one at a local conference and the other for a group of DOE people. It doesn't look like we'll get money from the DOE people, but we've had a project going with a local company in town. They brought some potential investors to town in late September and they were really rather impressed. Later on it seems that they were impressed enough to push a substantial amount of money in our direction, substantial meaning about 3 million dollars. How soon we will it and how small a portion of that we are likely to see is so far unknown, so I'll just wait and hold my breath. Suffice to say I am quietly optimistic. The classes are going well, the Management Communications class is ridiculously simple and the Economics while harder just plain makes sense, hence the 100% on the exam.

Now do you see why I haven't had much time for writing?

My main concern is that everything is ok with Tiffany, I really do want to stay friends, because I don't have very many of them. So that's an area where I could do with some help.
