Well, for starters it snowed today, the first real snow of winter. Down here in the valley we only got an inch or two, but the mountains probably got a lot more. It was melted and gone by midday, but snowflakes were fluttering out of the sky up until mid-afternoon.
It's also Homecoming weekend here at the University, and I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it's all about. Last night Doug, Tiffany and I walked over to see them light up the dormitories. The marching band was circling around campus which was nice and then after that they had a pep rally around 9 pm. I would have liked to have seen the pep rally for novelty sake, but Doug and Tiffany wanted to see the bonfire. Alas it turned out that there was no bonfire because of fire restrictions. Ironically like I mentioned it did snow later that night. Tonight there will be some festivities over in the gym, and we may end up going over to that. Tomorrow there is a parade and then the football match.
I talked briefly tonight with Ben in Miami and Mum. She has been nice enough to get me a flight from Sydney to Wagga, which definitely cuts the time taken to get home via bus.
In other news, the assault which happened last week was on the front page of the local paper for two days and then on the front of the Uni newspaper on Thursday as well. Friday was I believe National Coming Out Day and there was an information table in the Union building, but I was busy all day long and didn't even have a chance to go past it. In terms of work things were very frustrating because every time I came up with a possible research direction I would run into a brick wall. Either someone was out of the country for a month, or a machine had been completely disassembled or some other mishap. It was extremely frustrating all round.
