Well, the tracking system suggests that the envelope left Hawaii a little before 8 am this morning (Sydney time). Given a 10 hour trip, this might suggest it ought to arrive at about 6 pm this afternoon and perhaps be processed in the evening. While I suppose I am allowing myself a slight glimmer of hope, I'm still expecting to be disappointed.
I did check that I had the correct piece of paper to get back into the consulate, now I can only hope that the interview goes ok. Ugh, why does it have to be this hard?
Today I did lots of walking. I checked my email first and then about 9 am walked down towards circular Quay. I dropped by the library of New South Wales and wandered around there for a while. Then I walked over to the Police Museum which had an exhibit on drugs in Australia. About noon I walked back up through the city and went to Paddy's markets. It's a big market with all sorts of junk and tourist rubbish but it is a real constant of Sydney. I've actually been surprised of how much I didn't know of parts of the CBD of Sydney. Admittedly I haven't lived in Sydney since 1996, and when I did it was way out in the far suburbs. Nevertheless, I was happy to see new aspects to it all.
Apart from that, I'm running out of things to do. I keep meaning to contact Sarah, but I always forget to do it. Maybe she and I can hang out on Saturday night. I might also go and see “Lost in Translation” later this evening. The sun doesn't go down until 8:30 pm, and so the days seem endless. Not good when you just want things to hurry up and happen.
I haven't received any word from my bosses or colleagues which seems a little odd. Maybe they just assume I'll be back when I'm back.
Last night I had a very hard time sleeping, all sorts of horrible thoughts going through my head. I'd had a few drinks to try and take the edge of my tension, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
God I hope everything goes ok tomorrow. *sigh*
