2 pm - Monday 3rd January 2005

Well, I'm still here in Berkeley, the nicest thing is that the rain has for now temporarily stopped.

Sunday was a very lazy day for Bonnie and I, we got up late, had lots of sex and then didn't do much for the rest of the day. Bonnie's friend Bonita was meeting her for coffee and so I tagged along, to try and book a ticket for my flight home. I had received a call from Chris who had given me a ride down here, however he wanted to spend a few days with friends in Eugene, Oregon. This wouldn't work out for me because I need to be back soon to start the lease on my new apartment.

Lat night Bonnie and I cooked noodles and meat for dinner, and although it was nice that night I really started to feel sick. I felt really lousy, but this morning I am feeling better although my throat is still quite sore, so I presume it may have been a 24 hour virus.

I am flying back to Montana on Thursday, and it will be nice to get home even though there is so much stuff to be done when I get there. My surgery is only 53 days or so away, not including leaving Montana and flying the Pacific. Then there are papers to try to finish, posters and presentations which need to be brought up to speed, as well as moving apartments.

4:30 pm – I'm here in the computer science building of Berkeley trying to make some progress on my faculty presentations. They're coming along alright, but I need a lot more time to get them into proper shape and to practice them. I swing between pessimistic and cautiously optimistic when I think about my chances, even one interview would get me a little more exposure and help my learning curve substantially.

I think 2005 will be another interesting year, quite how it will turn out I do not know.
