Friday 27th May
We found a nice coffee shop down on Shattuck which had free wireless, so Bonnie and I spent some of the morning there drinking tea and coffee and checking email. We still had more cleaning to do at Bonnie's old apartment, and so in the afternoon after lunch we headed back to finish the job. We cleaned the room to within an inch of it's life, and left it much cleaner than it had been upon the move in. We also cleaned and scrubbed the kitchen and bathroom, and Bonnie was quite worried about not getting all her deposit back. We had pizza for dinner at Le Val's at 5:30 pm, just before the inspection at 6 pm. Everything went fine of course, the only thing we missed was a shelf or two in the pantry, so Bonnie should get her deposit back soon. That evening we chilled out at home and watched the Almodovar film "Bad Education" it was an ok film, but watching how trans people are portrayed always makes me not want to watch them in films.

Saturday 28th May
Convention II "Attack of the Nerds".
Bonnie and I woke up at about 8:30 am, and finally got out of Berkeley about 10:30 am. We were on the Bart to San Francisco International Airport and thence to the Hyatt hotel for "Kublacon 2005", a local gaming convention. We got there about midday, and we had a blast. We just got one day tickets, and went to look at the vendors and gamers on the hall floor. It was fairly obvious that this was a huge nerd fest, so naturally we both felt quite at home. We signed up for an afternoon "Call of Cthulhu" game and although Bonnie got in, I was relegated to an Introductory game. I passed on that, and convinced Bonnie to play the other game. I tried to help her out a bit, but she didn't need any assistance so I went back down to the gaming floor. I got into a pickup game of "Munchkin" which was a lot of fun, as I had never played it before. I went back and Bonnie's game was progressing nicely.

I tried to sign up for some other Call of Cthulhu games, but many of them had been cancelled or were full already which was a bummer. Later that evening Bonnie and I got involved in a homebrew faery LARP which was interesting, although the "Holly King" was hitting on me "Discord" a little too much. Bonnie was a human religious fanatic which we both thought was fairly amusing. That game ran until almost midnight, but Bonnie and I had to leave about 11:30 pm. We caught the last bus back to the airport Bart, and ran to catch the last BART train back to the city and across the Bay. We were happy but quite tired when we finally got into Berkeley about 1 am, and then to bed about 1:45 am or so.

Sunday 29th May
We were both pretty zonked from the previous day, so we didn't wake up until after 10 am. Bonnie's new place is nice, and much quieter and cheaper than her old apartment. We had coffee and checked our email at the coffee shop, and then we caught the Bart to Ashby for the flea market which is there each weekend. It was ok, nothing particularly interesting until we got to one particular vendor which sold all sorts of cool things like old coins and photos. I kept thinking about what cool props the would make for a Call of Cthulhu campaign, and we had quite a nice time. We caught the train back to Berkeley and stopped at Games of Berkeley so I could look at a Cthulhu Live book. I showed Bonnie the one I was interested in, and she started reading it and since I didn't wish to be rude and ask for it back, I was a little peeved. We had a bit of an argument after that, but finally we got things worked out, she went to send a fax and I went back to read the book. After that we decided to walk down Telegraph to look at other bookshops, and I ended up buying some CD's at Rasputin Music. We wandered back up to the University talking about complexity theory in computer science, and then I had to go to the bathroom in the Soda building. We wandered back over Holy Hill to Bonnie's apartment.
