Monday 30th May
We weren't really sure what we were going to do with my last day in town, we wanted to go to Yosemite, but there wasn't enough time. In the end we decided to go into the city, but we stopped off at the supermarket to buy some bread, brie and salad for lunch. We still weren't all that sure where to go, but in the end we had lunch at Powell Street station and decided to pass on trying to get onto the cable cars which were overrun by tourists. We also tried to go to the Cheesecake Factory, but that too was a 40-50 minute wait. Instead we wandered along in a Northerly direction and ended up in China town. Bonnie went shopping for sweet and sour soup in various different shops, and then we looked at some swords and tai chi clothing. In an unusual moment, my belt finally broke all the way through, but we were able to find a nice leather one for a good price just up the street. We needed to go to the bathroom, but didn't find one until we walked almost all the way to Fisherman's Warf. It was one of the self-cleaning, enclosed types, but it did the job. All the shops here were selling junk t-shirts, and we didn't buy anything. Bonnie spent a few hours trying to find a recycling bin for her drink can, but I told her they didn't do recycling in that part of the city. We sat in the bay front park and ate our bread and brie. We then dropped by Giardelli Square before we caught the F trolley back to Bart around 8 pm. We crossed the Bay as the sun set and got home to Berkeley about 9:30 pm. I was quite tired from all the walking, but we had quite a fun day. That night we did a little bit of experimentation to see how things were coming along downstairs for me, but I was very tired.
Tuesday 31st May
This morning Bonnie had to get up at 5:30 am to get ready for her first day of work at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. She left about 6:30 am, and I left about 30 minutes later. Now I'm in Salt Lake City airport drinking a beer (in Utah!) and staring out at the mountains. I have lots of work to do when I get back, but I at least have something else I love to do (planning CoC campaigns) to distract me when I finally get some time.
