Stop the world I want to get off.

Ugh, what a day. It would have been much better if I had not had a dentist appointment. I had scheduled for a cleaning, but the dentist said I had cavities which needed filling, which I think was bullshit. The university has great insurance, but that still left me over $100 out of pocket. Now the whole right side of my jaw hurts, just so this guy can make a few bucks.

On the upside, I received an email from a university in Arizona asking for me to schedule a phone interview with them. That was very ironic news, as I had just called them this morning asking when if they had already decided to interview people. I also received a letter from a university in Indiana asking for a bit more information on start up costs, so I need to get that to them as soon as possible.

The rest of the day was all right, however I had some guys in the lab calibrating the balance. I wish they hadn't been there since Fridays and Mondays are the only time I get the place to myself, and I need those days so I can start and finish the week properly.

The weekend was not too bad. On Friday evening I went jogging with Mike, and later Brandon, mike and myself went over to play pool at the bar near my place. We were having a nice time, and started playing doubles against a girl (Laurie) and a guy (Nate) who were having some post work drinks. Nate bought a whole slew of tequila shots, and I ended up really quite ploughed. Nate was hitting on me quite heavily, but fortunately Mike was there to bail me out. The bar closed at 2 am, and so Mike, Brandon and I went to Mike's place. They played Halo for a while, and then I went home to bed about 3 am.

I woke up at 10 am on Saturday morning with a bit of a headache, and for penance I cycled the few miles to *-Mart. I found some more hair dye, as well as a few other pieces for my Halloween costume. I came home via the lab, and then napped in the afternoon. I called Katie, and at 7 pm she gave me a lift over to Rachel and Lori's house.

Lori did Katie's face make up, while Rachel made seven layer dip, and I went out for their alcohol (I wasn't going to drink). We got ready after about 8 pm, although it took a little longer than expected. Lori was a very convincing nun, Rachel was the naughty Catholic schoolgirl, Katie was a zombie, and I was Trinity from the Matrix. Harold was a friend of Lori's, and he came as a very convincing leopard.

We headed down to the big party downtown, and waited in line foe about 20 minutes. It was really crowded inside, but disappointingly I didn't see too many people that I knew. I hung out in different rooms, but it was very difficult to get to the upstairs section because of the crush of people. In on instance I was almost knocked over, and lost my sunglasses in the press of humanity. I saw Syd and Tim briefly, but didn't see Mike or Brandon, so by midnight I decided that I wanted to go home. Since I couldn't find Lori or Rachel, I decided to walk. It was a little scary, but no one jumped out of the many shadows, and I made it home in 25 minutes and was in bed by 1 am.

The next day I woke up at about 9:30 am, and wanted to get to the Unitarian service at the other end of town. My moped started up quickly, and I left home, but it wasn't until I passed a bank clock that I realized I had forgotten to take daylight savings time into account. This was somewhat annoying, so I drove around for a while and still got there 30 minutes early. I talked to Lori for a while, and then the service kicked off. It was ok, and they had a fun soup and bread event afterwards. I stayed for a while, but had to go and try to get my moped started. That took 20 minutes or so, but at least I didn't have to push it home. I drove past Lori and Rachel's house to grab my backpack, and headed home. I had a few calls in my cell phone from people asking where I was last night, but nothing too exciting. I got fuel for my moped, and then in the afternoon I talked to Judy for almost an hour. I napped in the evening, but it turned into a full-blown 12-hour snooze from which I did not awake until this morning.

Overall the day has been good, but I am still really angry at the dentist debacle.
