Sunday is at last winding down and the week is almost here again. On Friday my boss got back to the lab, and I had not seen him in over about 6 weeks. He had a nice time in the Caribbean, but had broken a tooth on his first full day back in Montana. He was very happy about my job offer, and congratulated me. I was a bit sad when he said that he would probably close down the lab after I am gone, I suppose I can't help but think of it as the end of an era.
I was doing a fair bit of running around, and trying to clean up my list of things to do. It's not even all that long, and yet it just seems hard to actually do what I need to do. Now I admit that I finally got a few items accomplished that had been hanging around for months, like the motorcycle written test so perhaps there is hope. I have class at noon most days, which tends to disrupt my schedule somewhat, but it is a welcome break. In the afternoon I didn't go for a run, instead Kadie and I left about 4 pm and cycled down to a bar for a drink and to shot some billiards. From there we went to the supermarket for a pizza and then back to her apartment. We cooked pizza and then watched "The Sting", and now I realize just what "Oceans 11" and other similar movies were based on. I received a phone call from Lori P who wanted to go out to a dance, but Kadie and I were ambivalent. We dropped by to say hello to Rachel and Lori, but when we told her we weren't up to going Lori got really upset and made us feel unwelcome. Kadie and I decided to escape and came back to my apartment, and we were intending to watch "Throne of Blood" (a great Kurosawa film). Instead we kissed and caressed in the bathroom for a long time before having a nice shower. By the time we finished there we were both tired and so we went to bed.
On Saturday morning we slept in until 9 am or so. It was a grey day, and so neither of us was all that motivated to get out of bed. After breakfast, we drove down to her apartment, and from there we went over to *-Mart. Both of us had a great deal of shopping to do, and so this took quite some time. We got hair dye for me, because I was intending to bleach my hair. We also went to a hairdresser supply store and I found "Party Time Pink" and "Raspberry Kamikaze" (purple) hair colours. Kadie dropped into one store to catch up with her friend Chris (the one who had a crush on her). I said hello and then escaped to go for coffee. After we unloaded all her groceries, we also dragged a set of shelves out of her truck and up to her room. The day had warmed up just slightly, and she gave me a lift back to my place so I could unload my purchases. From there we drove back to her place and did some organizing of her room.
By this time it was mid-afternoon, and we walked over to the piercing shop. I had been talking about getting my eyebrow ring put back in, and Kadie had always wanted a nose ring. I signed up on this list of people, but they had to sterilize my old ring first. So, Kadie and I walked over to a different shop to see what her options were. She was either just talking big, or in her heart really didn't want one. I don't know which, but suffice to say she didn't end up getting it done. We walked back via Ryan and Brandon's house, but they weren't home. In the car park, Kadie found an old beanie that had been lying in the snow and mud. She was really excited about her find and took it home, while I walked back to the piercing parlour. In the end I had my eyebrow pierced, and Kadie got back just in time to watch it being done. It didn't hurt anymore than last time when the pain was minimal.
We walked back to her apartment and hung out there for a while. There was a dinner party that evening, and so she got clean and ready. Around 5 pm we drove back to my apartment where I also got ready, we were late leaving and arrived about 7:30 pm. The people at the party were Zach, Brian, Josh, John, Josh and Tate. It was a queer friendly gathering, and the dinner was quite nice. I made a social faux pas of getting a second piece of lasagne before being asked, but otherwise all else went well. We sat around talking until about 11:30 pm, and we ended up back at Kadie's apartment.
Kadie rooms with John, and her apartment is colder than (land of the ice giants of Norse myth). I huddled under the blankets until I warmed up slightly, although later that evening the room got too hot and Kadie was a bit grumpy. I am not a paragon of virtue, so that isn't meant as a criticism.
The next morning we woke up around 8 am, and Kadie got breakfast ready. She dropped me off at home not long after and I had a shower and changed my clothes. I cycled over to the lab and read my usual array of online news and comics. Afterwards I did my biochemistry homework and walked over to the library to read the biochemistry textbook that was on closed reserve. Later Kadie and I went for a run, she was going to have dinner with Adam, and I had originally intended to go and watch the “L-Word”. In the end I came home and played around with dying my hair. I also toyed with the idea of doing a "mash up" of an online comic, but in the end I think I just have too much else that I have to do.
Tomorrow morning I am in a muscle study, and so I have to be there by about 7 am. That means an early night tonight, and a long day tomorrow.
