She'll do sit up's and push up's, and swallow raw eggs...

Or

Another airport, another day.

So here I am in Virginia, waiting for my flight. Yesterday was ok, I talked about my reviews before lunch, and so didn't have much to say for the rest of the afternoon. I was one of only two women out of 17 or so participants, but that wasn't really an issue and the funding list worked itself out eventually with some wrangling. I had dinner with Eric afterwards with a few other people, and one person ā€œPā€ was there whom I dislike. I'll try to avoid characterizing him too much, but he should get his head out of his arse sometime soon. This morning I woke up at 7 am, and was immediately annoyed that I didn't get up a little sooner. As it turned out of course I made it to the airport with quite a bit of time. The plane is a little late, so I just hope that doesn't affect my tight connection in Minneapolis.

I now actually have some time up my sleeve. The past two weeks have simply been incredibly busy, with trips and talks and illness. In another week or so I will have abstracts due, and then proposals that will need to be submitted, so I can't rest on my laurels. Still, I find it hard to believe that I actually pulled it all off, but maybe it means I must be as Kadie stated, 'Married to my job".

The other thing on my agenda is to keep hitting the gym. Yesterday after the panel, I went back to my hotel gym and spent 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. It felt really good to be able to exercise again properly, and I had a light sweat going by the end. In the shower afterwards I was coughing up all sorts of nasty salty phlegm from the back of my head somewhere, but on the upside I was getting it out of my body. I'll go for a run with Kadie when I get back, but hopefully she'll be up to pushing me because otherwise I won't get the work out I need.

Kadie did really well yesterday, she got up for her muscle study blood draws, met with her mum, got her poster to the poster presentation, had lunch with my boss, and set up an interview with a scholarship organization. She has a really bright future, she just has to seize it.
