Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree.

I like keeping my laptop set to Montana time, as it's the only good way I have of keeping track of the time over there. Right now it is about 2:30 pm, and so it is right in the middle of a busy and hot afternoon.

Today I was quite busy physically as I had intended. After waking up at 5 am to call the lab, I spent some time writing and having breakfast. Before the sun came up, I hiked to the top of the hill on our property and watched the sun rise. I took a slew of photos with my new digital camera and appreciated being altitude acclimatized to Montana (~5000 feet) in comparison to home (~1000 ft). I am sure the difference will be magnified after I move to Arizona (~7000 ft).

After a while, I came home and started getting to work. My first work involved trimming back the hedges and shrubs which tend to get overgrown without constant attention. It has been a long time since I was home, so many of them needed a great deal of work. I spent most of the morning sawing and pruning, and then more arduous, dragging the branches away. For May, it is still quite warm here but I was happy to be productive and get exercise.

I did other jobs around the house, and I called Kadie in Montana. She had sold my moped to a guy for $250 and although I thought she could have gotten more for it at least it is now out of my hands. Later in the day I drove into town with Mum and saw that my hometown has not changed very much at all. I was quite tired, and so I went to bed fairly early. Today I need to do more work. I have a shed to reorganize, and a bit more gardening to complete. There are some noxious weeds I would like to spray, so I will have to talk to Dad about that.

Kadie has also been offered an internship position in the Chico region of California for this summer. She has to be there by May 30, and so she will be running around packing up her apartment and storing her stuff at my place. I will have a few extra days in San Francisco, so I am hoping that we will be able to meet up there. Of course I will be back there for Pride, but it will be nice to see her as much as I can.
