They say that people have more time than ever before for leisure, but that this time has been consumed with watching television. I suppose “television” might include watching anime DVD's...

It's been a good day. I woke up about 7 am, and was at the university and in my office by 8 am. There has not been any snow yet, and so the ride is cool but not treacherous. I worked for about 2 hours to finish my lecture notes. This has become a very typical morning, and I usually post the lecture notes on my Google page about 15 minutes before class. This gives me the chance to go and convert the print outs to overhead transparencies, and grab a diet coke before the lecture begins.

After the hour long lecture, I talk with the students briefly and then head back up to my office. The time after the lecture is my office hours, but I have not had too many students come and see me, so usually I just unwind. A little later around 1 o'clock I'll go and get a latte and a danish. That will do me for some semblance of lunch, and I try to work on my grant proposals.

This evening I was feeling quite lazy, and I chatted with Kadie and then headed home. Happily I have discovered a short cut that allows me to avoid the worst of the traffic, even though it does cross through a gap in the security fence around the railroad.

The railroad here is very busy, and is only about 200 meters from my house. The trains certainly make themselves known, so it's not hard to cross the tracks safely, and I'll use the same path to get to the supermarket on the weekend.

It's almost the end of week 9 of the semester, so things are slowly moving towards the end of the semester. I handed out the second assignment in class today, and the second exam will be coming up in about 2 weeks.

For the interested reader (Rachel maybe), the anime I have out at the moment is UFO Princess Valkyrie, Ghost in the Shell – Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig and Magical Shopping Arcade Abenoshi. I thought Magical Play was hilarious, Hanayuko Maid Team was quite amusing, but Azu Manga Diaoh still tops my list for the year. Suffice to say I have been getting my TV time.
