I'm laying here listening to mp3's on my laptop and counting the bruises on my naked body. Saturday was a rugby day, and so there is no shortage of bruises, scrapes, aches and pains.
Friday was a fun day, and I really had a good time in my lecture. We have spent most of the semester laying the groundwork, and building up the knowledge of the students, so now we can finally get into some really interesting chemistry. I talked about why insects don't have blood, how a tanker full of iron could cause the next ice-age, and how certain types of porphyria are potential historical explanations for vampirism.
Friday 3pm I went to a talk by my faculty advisor on VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) which is the technology behind every piece of electronics that exists today. Afterwards she gave me a tour of the building and we chatted for a long time on a whole suite of topics. When we had finished, I cycled over to a brewery near the university to meet up with the chemistry faculty. It was free beer to celebrate a bet centered around the recent US election outcome. I ate and chatted for a while before I headed home. I was quote verbose after two or so beers, and talked with Ecole and Alex for some time as the sun set over town.
